New 43mm Sea Dweller out...

Post by 93 Turbo » Wed Mar 22, 2017 5:13 am

Too much red cordial being drunk over on TRF, head over there for the full lineup of new released novelties.

Like the size, but I still want a D-Blue. J

Cyclops is an odd choice and it looks like a gloss dial. Not doing it for me.
cheers,

Can't believe they stuck on a cyclop on the SD!!
The SD is substantial and 43 will make it too big for many.

Wtf. Throwing a cyclops on the already raised crystal of the SD is damn near blasphemy. Of course, they decided on throwing red lettering on there too. So we can start calling this one the SRSDc. I don't hate it but not like I'm playing in that field anymore these days.

Makes sense except for the damn cyclops. It's great for those that wanted a bigger sub without going full Deep Sea.

Totally agree....... This would have been a perfect every day watch for me...... But damn that stinking cyclops. Perfect size though.

If they made a 43mm Sub C ND I would likely sell just about everything and buy one.

It looks like the kept the dial size the same and just increased the width of the bezel. I think a cyclops on a dive watch is ridiculous, and there's no exception to that here.

Sucks that the red SD returns as an upsized retarded Sub. Obviously the 116600 was a terrible seller so I can't fault Rolex for going in a direction that I don't like. My 16600 just became more classic.

My guess is the vast majority of Rolex buyers associate Rolex with the cyclops and the decision to place one on this watch was to appeal to that large market segment. Watch forum enthusiasts are a negligible part of their market.
cheers,

Keith

If I didn't already have the 16600 I'd seriously consider this one. For some reason, I love it. I know the cyclops is blasphemy, I know the red is a throw back gimmick. But it still works for me.

Also - does the mean the Deep Sea is kaput? Saw on TRF that Rolex removed it from their website. It looks like they have.

It's still on there, same with the D-Blue.

It would make sense though, do they really need a 43mm and a 44mm?

I like it! Of course I'm not a diver but a lover of diver watches. Combine that with "old man" eyes and the Cyclops is a wonderful thing!

Will be interested to see it next to a DSSD. Dislike the Cyclops, and it looks really thick. Wonder if it is 21mm lugs like the DSSD.

Cyclops is so wrong on a Sea-Dweller. Get the old ones.
