The only issue I now have with it is that damned cyclops.

Wow, that pic makes me want one now. But I still love the one I have so I can wait.

After these have been out in circulation maybe someone like LAWW/ABC will find out what other crystals may fit. If this is the same size dial as SD4k, one may be able to swap in that crystal to end the cyclops. It would surely void the warranty.

I was starting to warm up to this one slightly, but next to a 40mm GMT it looks frikkin huge even after taking the maxi-lugs into consideration.

Art, this one is for you.

That pic makes the size look doable IMHO.

Even dssd is doable. Most people judge it without ever seeing it in person

It looks great for medium to large wrists, not sure about my 6.5 incher, though...

I'm almost glad, otherwise I would have to try it (and still might). The watch looks great.

This will work better than a DSSD, because this has a more proportionate 22mm lug width.

That darned cyclops though...

Doesn't do anything for me. Cyclops kills it out of the box. Loved the SD simply because of no cyclops and the perfect size.

Going bigger to 43mm was unnecessary. Will it sell?...I suppose so.

Excuse the thread resurrection.

Tried one on today & thought that whilst much better proportioned than a DSSD it was too big for me - by that I mean too thick mainly.

It wore huge compared to the new (also 43mm) Samurai's and my (new collected) BLNR.

It's still a great Sub alternative for guys with big wrists (or "look at my watch" size queens). It's also still a bastardized fashion Sea Dweller and much less cool than the purpose built DSSD.

More options are good. I hope they redesign the Subs with lugs this size.

I have admittedly not tried on an SD43 yet (mostly because Rolex seems incapable of getting merchandise in their AD's), but as an 80/20 "big wrist/size queen", I'm interested. Although, this is one watch where none of the pictures look all that good to me. It looks kind of goofy. I don't know why they insist of upsizing the cases but keeping the dial the same size.

I did own a DSSD, and ultimately it got a bit boring for me because again it was a big thick watch with a dial the same size as a Sub, and a huge slab sided case.

In a few years, the SD will be back to 40mm.

Found a 43mm SD, a new non AD retailer here in Sydney have bought this and a JC DSSD into the country. Tried the SD43 on. Didn't sing to me as I thought it would, should've tried the JC DSSD on.

Retail on these in Sydney is $15,700.00 AUS from a AD, they had these listed at $19,800.00. Just saw these two watches listed on Gumtree for $18,200.00.

No Rolex AD has these available here in Sydney, and their trickle feed ain't helping. If I were to purchase one from the States, exchange rates, shipping & duties I won't get much change out of $18K. Might try the JC DSSD on tomorrow for shits & giggles. See your point re the disproportion of the dial and case size. J

So how does this wear compared to the DSSD?

It wears much better. Flatter and not as thick so it's not top heavy.

Don’t forget the more proportionate bracelet.

Yeah except the cyclops and unavailability of a replacement crystal cancels all of those pluses. And dssd is extremely comfortable on a strap
