New to me Seiko SBDB009
I had decided to make some changes to my "collection" (I hate that word) and this one landed on my doorstep today because of it. There were a couple of casualties to make it happen though in terms of my Oris DIver 65 42 and Zelos Hammerhead Bronze that have found new homes now. I won't go into all the long boring reasons why I made such a dramatic shift but I will say that this is an impressive watch. I do want to thank jswing who gave me some feedback on the watch that helped me pull the trigger on it.

Yeah - it's a joke based on the huge number of multiple threads going on. It's a cool watch. I like my quartz Tuna a lot.

Thanks. I used to have a Darth that I loved. The only problem I had with the Darth was that it sat high due to where the straps attached to the case. This SD Tuna keeps the blacked out look that that I wanted but the lugs are part of the shroud and allow the watch to sit lower.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2017 1:46 pmYeah - it's a joke based on the huge number of multiple threads going on. Bad-ass tuna. Well done

You are saying this one sits lower than the Darth? By a lot?

Its a beauty
Re: New to me Seiko SBDB009
Love this watch. Tried one on a few times. It feels so much smaller than the specs would imply. Very comfortable.

@BBK357 yes it sits lower than the DARTH. Not by a lot on paper but it feels like it on the wrist. The DARTH is a true "lug-less" design and the straps attach to the underside of the case. On my wrist that caused the strap to lift the case up a bit. The SD Tuna's strap attached to the shroud which is different than any other Tuna than the Emporer (I think) this helps the watch sit lower, flatter, and more evenly than the Darth. I found a few pictures that demonstrates what I am talking about.
This is the case back of the DARTH
This is the case back of the SD Tuna
This is a side by side laying flat on a table. The SD Tuna is the thicker watch by 1mm on paper (I think) but the Darth sits higher by a large margin.
Here is a better picture of the SD Shroud and how it wraps downward

Hey Alex, great to see you here! Congrats on the SD Tuna. As you know, I was extremely impressed with mine, the finishing is amazing and I was always mesmerized by the second hand gliding around the dial. Spring drive is just awesome.

I've been wanting to try one of these for a while, but just can't pull the trigger for some reason. I will have one eventually!

Thanks guys! So far this watch has been great! It has the potential to dominate wrist time for quite a while. The new silicone infused strap is excellent. Seiko should use this in other models......ahem MM300.
