thanks cgshorty: uts 2000m does comfortably defy its l2l
I have to thank (blame) chris, for his recent statement about the lug to lug measurement of the uts watches being largely useless in determining their fit and wearability (in paul's fs ad). he forced my hand, urged me off the ledge, and i appreciate it.
my dilemma was this: i have always admired the design aesthetic, construction, reported high quality fit and finish and the value proposition of uts watches, but i always assumed the only one i could pull off size wise would be the 1000m. problem was i much preferred many details from the 2000m---date placement, date wheel color, he valve, thicker case, etc. it just seemed the goldilocks of the uts lineup to me. but the l2l intimidated me, so i quieted the urge. well, that was, until a few weeks ago when chris, commenting to todd, laid that little nugget: "Pay no attention to that lug to lug number."
this assurance conjured the optimistic leaning necessary for me to finally give the uts 2000m a test drive after many years of curiosity. i must say, after a week of every-other-day wear, i have no complaints about the size or wearability. despite its heft, thickness and diameter, it is very comfortable, even after wearing 48 hours straight. i put this down to balance. the case diameter increases proportionally to thickness through the model range. taken with the lug design, shape and angle, as well as the l2l length, it all works beautifully together to really stabilize this hunk of milled art firmly in place without any requirement of the strap being overly tight.
yes, it is at the size limit for me. the lugs "try" to hang over my wrist, but do not quite manage. i love the heft, and everything tactile is a joy to operate.
so, again, thanks chris, i'm glad i took this leap of faith. and btw, this may likely be your old one?
also, congrats to whomever snagged paul's 1000m. the blue dial is amazing and these punch way above their price point.
better pics forthcoming (if the sun ever shines in the upper midwest again)

Nice score. I too was strongly considering it based on Chris's comment, but was too slow. It does work on you for sure. Love the dial on these.

Gotcha - now I see the difference. I was actually looking at that one as well. Thanks for clarifying.

Congrats!
That is the model I'd choose too. Love the blue dial.

Nice!
I do really like UTS. While I wish there was some variety available in the lugs, there are still a lot of designs that appeal to me. If the chrono had brighter lume, I'd probably still have that one.

I'm glad I helped. I think too many people discount UTS based on the size. It looks great on you.

The same applies to the H2O Kalmar 2 and Orca Dive watches as they carry the same design characteristics. The donward angled lugs are VERY forgiving and hug the wrist for a very comfy fit.
Congrats on the UTS, they are exceptional watches. Germans know how to do it.

The blue dial on that UTS is gorgeous. Congrats.
Re: thanks cgshorty: uts 2000m does comfortably defy its l2l
That looks great! I had the 1000m blue dial for a short while but if I ever get another UTS it would be this one. Even though technically the 1000m specs should be better for my wrist I think they got the proportions on this one perfect. I also like the larger full sunray dial, versus just the center sunray on the 1000m.
Re: thanks cgshorty: uts 2000m does comfortably defy its l2l
That looks excellent. I've owned most models and even the 3000 wears well.

I've always admired UTS but avoided them because of the specs, but that really does look good on you.
