My mother took me shopping for a nice watch for my father. Maybe 10 at the time. She got him a slim gold Rado. Hooked since then.

Can't remember my really young years, but I have always have been a lover of watches, too. I've had a couple of nice Seiko's, one Tag, a TechnoMarine Chrono, and a nice Raymond Weil. I was wearing a cheap Freestyle when I pursued this.

A few hundred dollars later... here we are.

I thought there might be a response like this. If your family, growing up, had nice watches it's easy to see how it carries on. I did not. Two of my friends wear their Dad's Rolex today.

Neat that you still have it. In 1967 that Tissot must have been sweet.
My Dad has always own cheap ass Casio digitals.

My dad had that original Tuna. I always loved that watch, and now it's mine.

I agree with a lot that was said on here about needing to try a watch and see how it wears. That's me too. Sometimes I think it's gonna be great and then I get it out it on and say what the F was I thinking! Some pieces I know I'll probably keep though. My type W I don't see going anywhere any time soon and my dad's 7549 definitely won't leave me until I pass it to my kids.
