Options on Sinn service? FML- another full service

Post by BBK357 » Thu Jan 05, 2017 1:23 pm

If you can recall, I shattered my acrylic crystal on my 103. I was quite surprised that it shattered and did not just crack like I've heard about acrylic.

So I sent to RGM in the beginning of December. Despite 3 phone calls, I finally heard from them yesterday. I called to confirm receipt and they couldn't help me out cause Vikki was out of the office. Left her a voicemail and no repose. But she responded with a bill at least....

$570!!!!!!!!!

My IWC service was cheaper than this!!

Any options out there besides RGM... does it really need a movement service?

I worry about getting the correct fitting crystal....

The entire Sinn/RGM thing is turning out to be a real shit show. Add in the warranty service "filter" of Watchbuys and it's plenty of reason to avoid the brand.

It's too bad really, because they are cool looking watches.

Personally to be safe I would also recommend a movement service. Because if it leaves there shop and some of those shards end up stuck in the movement then you will have to send it back again to them.

I am always baffled by how bad RGM seems to be for a service company, they might not be that way for their own watches but they leave a lot to be desired as a service company.

That doesn't seem that bad IMO. There are probably fragments in the movement, so why risk fucking up your watch?

$570 isn't cheap, but it's not crazy for a full service plus new crystal. How much less were you expecting?

A 7750 service plus a new crystal? Sounds about right.

Yeah, sucks, but sounds right. And as all have said already, absolutely expected it once you shared pics.

I forgot it is a 7750, which means it is definitely worth the price.

Hell Ben just think of all the money you gave Dom and this one will feel like a easy ride.

Price isn't bad Ben. Dom won't touch a chrono for less than $650.

I doubt sending it to Sinn will yield cost savings. It's on the high side, but as others said, I doubt you'll get much better.

So I guess this one will be FS after the service?

Had my Sinn 103 ST SA repaired there last year it had a grinding metal parts feeling to it since new when turning the crown. At the time I bought it it was a common complaint but everyone was reassured by the WUS Sinn fanbois and Watchbuys it was normal. It failed and although I paid a little over $400 for the service the watch is ten times better than when I got it new.

All comms from Vikki were quick and I had to wait a few weeks for repair but I have also waited similiar times from others like Jack at IWW. Overall .. happy .. glad my watch is better and would use RGM again. On the other hand wouldn't buy a Sinn again.

You Guys are right. The price is what I should expect for a Chrono service.

I guess I'm just frustrated that number 1- I went a month without confirmation that they received my watch and 2- I'm still disappointed that acrylic shattered.

I've had a lot of experience with Sinn Germany and RGM, and I swore I'd never use RGM again after my last 156 service.

After a 4 month wait- I get the 156 on Christmas Eve last year only to test the Chrono function and watch the Chrono hand fly off. I sent a deservedly truthful email to Vikki about how incompetent their watchmakers are.... well maybe that's why she left me hanging for a month :)

My guys does a 7750 at $325-400 (according to what parts are needed). Crazy cheap price. But a stupid amount of work.
