I'll be the guy wearing an all digital Mudman to a Michelin starred restaurant. ;)

To be fair, the $6200 MR-G is a limited edition of just 300 pieces (which sold out almost immediately and now sells for a premium on the used market), and the price reflects the hand-applied tsuiki technique, which is performed by a single craftsman. Would I spend that kind of cash on a G? Nope, but clearly there are folks who do. Same goes for the standard MR-G, which sells for $2600; again I wouldn't drop that kind of cash, but objectively is a well-crafted watch that packs some serious technology under its hardened-titanium case.

The Master of G models make a more compelling case, but again, how many folks want to spend $800-$1000 for a G-Shock that looks like, well, a G-Shock? Oddly enough, once more, the answer seems to be "a lot", given that the top-of-the-line GWG-1000 Mudmaster and GWN-G1000 Gulfmaster are selling out.

As for the G-Steel, sure I'd wear one in a conference room. Given that far too many idiots think that a standard resin-cased G-Shock, Timex or fashion watch are appropriate, to say nothing of a smartwatch, a steel-cased ana-digi is certainly a step up. Fortunately, I still have a Reverso to fall back on for formal occasions. ;-)

Regards,
Adam
