Zenith Cairelli CP-2 Reissue
Just tried this one on at a local Zenith AD. It's not quite as cross-eyed in person as it looks in photos, but still does suffer from it more than I'd like. The other thing that I found odd is that the color of the lumed area of the hands seems to be completely different than that of the numerals - the hands have a definite greenish tinge and the numerals appear white. That gave the watch an odd look.
The lighting was not conducive to photos so I didn't take any wrist shots, but I don't see as big a disparity in the lume color in this photo from Baselworld.
Overall not a bad looking watch, but it doesn't hold a candle to the original.

Solid back too, I'm surprised Zenith didn't want to show off the El Primero. Given the design changes from the original, they weren't going for complete fidelity anyway.

I don't know why the big brands always screw up their homage models. Maybe one of them should hire Yao as a homaging consultant.

You'd think it would be the easiest thing in the world. Zero design work required.JP Chestnut wrote:I don't know why the big brands always screw up their homage models. Maybe one of them should hire Yao as a homaging consultant.
I think this release is going to disappoint a lot of Zenith fans who were hoping to get their hands on a modern version of the CP2.
Re: Zenith Cairelli CP-2 Reissue
Yeah, not quite a winner there.
Re: Zenith Cairelli CP-2 Reissue
Good article about the history of the original.

Narrow niche, but I guess someone had to fill it.Axelay2003 wrote:I am cross-eyed and it looks good to me.

Yes, boom! My Zenith
Re: Zenith Cairelli CP-2 Reissue
Wait a minute?!! How can the original and the re-issue both be 43mm and yet have different sub-dial placements? Same 400 series El Primero movement?
only accurate watches are interesting

The original did not use the El Primero. The El Primero was created later.marchone wrote:Wait a minute?!! How can the original and the re-issue both be 43mm and yet have different sub-dial placements? Same 400 series El Primero movement?

Thanks. Didn't read enough about it.

Re: Zenith Cairelli CP-2 Reissue
Really Nice retro!
I especially like that no numbers on the
dial were sliced in half by the sub dials.
I will be looking seriously at this one

Re: Zenith Cairelli CP-2 Reissue
Original is cool. This new one looks like it has boobs
Re: Zenith Cairelli CP-2 Reissue
Oh my god guys stop
It looks exactly the same, maybe the subdials are a hair closer to each other than the original.
I swear some of you will eat a pile of shit as long as it has a scratched up faded bezel on it

Re: Zenith Cairelli CP-2 Reissue
The difference is quite significant to me. Subdials are at least 1.5mm closer to center.Panerai7 wrote:Oh my god guys stop

I agree, not something I could live with. But, Art, who cares what we think? If you like it go for it.Axelay2003 wrote:The difference is quite significant to me. Subdials are at least 1.5mm closer to center.Panerai7 wrote:Oh my god guys stop
