To All The Girls I've Loved Before

Post by vbuskirk » Fri Sep 23, 2016 9:36 am

Someone in my family was asking for watch advice yesterday (~$500 mens on a strap), and I got a little nostalgic thinking about this. Which ones have you flipped that you kind'a wish were still in the watchbox this morning? Here's mine:

Definitely
  • Seiko Blue Spark
    Sinn U1
    Seiko Darth Tuna
Still a little sentimental about:
  • Seiko SKX007
    Hamilton Jazzmaster
    IWC Portofino
    Bathys 100 Fathoms
    Orient Multi Eyes
    Oris Miles Complication
    The Doxa

I tend to keep my collection limited at any one time, so only a couple stand out:

Seiko Shogun (will get another if I ever sell my Pelagos)
Image

Seiko SBBN015 Tuna - Still don't remember why I sold it. Probably thickness and that clasp. Don't like the current Tuna's nearly as much.
Image

Blue Aquaracer - not a DWC favorite, but I bought it mint for $700, and should have kept it for beater duties for the price. Super comfortable and kept great time.
Image

Stowa Seatime - I loved that shade of blue.......

It is the sub $1k watches that I regret selling as I could probably live with a few minor issues at that pricepoint. More expensive watches for me need to check all boxes, and if they have an uncomfortable clasp, or are too thick, etc.... they must go.

Would have said my yellow Seiko Caesar 6 months ago, but right now nothing. I need to get off my butt and sell a lot though.

I miss them all, but my biggest regrets are;

- VAT

- EZM3F

- Paradive (yea, I know)

- Weiss Field Watch (sentimental reasons)

- Daytona (prettiest watch I've owned)

Probably others.

Welcome back.

Sold to fund a longtime favorite... Then the asshat seller backed out. Guess a Geophysic is on my list for next year.

If I could add those back to my collection right now I'd be done.
