New Damasko D-Sub1 Diver

Post by logan2z » Thu Sep 22, 2016 7:27 am

Announced on WUS:

...completely made out of seawater resistant German submarine steel. When I write "completely" it says that both, case and bracelet, are made of U-Boot steel. The bracelet, most parts being visually identical to the ice-hardened bracelet, features an in-house developed and in-house made deployant clasp with a diver's extension. A rubber strap option (Hirsch) will also be available.

The watch is equipped with an elaboré grade ETA 2824-2 and is rated wr up to 300M. The sapphire crystal is slightly domed and ar-coated on the outside and inside The bezel is easy to grip and operate. The current model features a blue dial, other colours will be available later on.

Well, the idea of a Damasko diver is enticing, but that doesn't look so good to me. Don't like the blue, don't like the yellow (or orange, I'm not sure) don't like the date placement, don't like the hands, and don't like outer AR coating. I guess I'm not the target market.

Not doing it for me either. Out of style rather than retro.

Huh. I've been looking at this brand and liking them a lot lately for their simple understated designs (the flieger styles)... so to me this looks completely out of character from them. Hope it's a one-time thing!

No, I don't care for it. Even if I did the crappy service would keep me away.

Yeah, odd choice of date placement given that there's plenty of dial real estate at '3'.

Glad I don't like it since I won't buy another Damasko.

I kind of like it, but I like the Sinn U-series better and see no reason to get this over a U-series. I'm still upset about how it took them years to do a bracelet and then screwed it up with a non-tapering monstrosity with giant fasteners. Yes, the date placement just looks random on the Blue dial.

There's nothing that I like about this one. Swing and a big miss.

Well, that is a quick turnaround considering their CS is like something from the dark ages...

Yep - a poor imitation of a Sinn U series.

Also, if you are going to stick the date window in the middle of a field of blue dial space, why they heck don't you use a color matched date wheel background?

I like that the date window is floating in the sea of blue. Ties in with the submarine steel shtick

My thought. Looks like a micro that would've cost $400 10 yrs ago.

If anyone wants a German diver with Blue and Orange contrast, Archimede is a better deal.

I love Archimede and their direct to consumer model. Very affordable for a true Made in Germany watch

Yeah bezel is about it. Otherwise it looks like a silly mod.
