Should I liquidate for this

Post by Sniper13 » Tue Sep 20, 2016 2:25 pm

I'm really liking this one. It would require me to sell everything but my sub and maybe even some other non watch things. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the thickness at 16mm. Otherwise I love it.

The dial looks great. I'm not a fan of Panerai on Bracelets, but that's easily changed. Do it

Depends on what you're liquidating. And for me, a PAM would never be an only watch.

is this a 40 or 44mm PAM? If it's a 40mm, may be more difficult to flip if you don't bond.

I like the look of PAMs on bracelet and prices seem great now.

I think that is 40mm. I never really cared for them in that size.

What are you getting rid of? If anything good, definitely not.

Not for a 40mm Pam with a cyclops date (except for 24/25/243 on the cyclops)

No. Maybe for a classic Pam without the cyclops and seconds hand.
I agree, not as an only watch.

A Sub and a Pam can work, and that Pam has a great dial... But that cyclops ruins it.

Yeah it's 40. I'm cursed with little wrists, I've been turning to smaller wrists as of late. I'd be selling my Oris 65, Bell and Ross and a couple other small stuff.

negative.
i wouldn't trade that b&r alone (classic) for any 40mm pam, regardless of the value proposition.
we have similar sized wrists, and trust me when i say the 44mm is way more comfortable and looks better proportioned than the 40mm.

I've got the black dial 48 or 50 (with bracelet) and for "only" 40mm it wears just fine. Great watch and as others have mentioned depends it really depends on what you're giving up in order to get it.

Edit you posted while I was distracted typing. Not sure I'd trade those two away either?

Coincidentally, I'm almost in the same situation as you. I really want a PAM 372, but I'd have to sell off a couple three vintage pieces to get one. Some days it seems like a good idea - others I think that at current market values, I'd likely never replace the ones that I sold. So, I tell myself the PAM can wait. What it comes down to is, can you let a few go without regrets and be happy with a new one? Unfortunately, you're never sure until after the fact. Good luck either way!

Unless you have an overwhelming passion for the watch you're seeking, I wouldn't. The current watch market makes liquidation a bitch.

I'd say no. That cyclops is a no go.

The simple answer is what do you like more? I think a 40mm Pam is a nice size. They look to wear a bit bigger because of the dial size and crown guard. I don't even mind the cyclops. In my mind, a Pam is all about utility, the ability to quickly and easily use it as a watch. If you have a date window, why not be able to see it?
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

I'm a Panerai fan but I wouldn't personally do it for that particular model. I'd go for one of the 44mm Luminors or maybe a 42mm 1940 Rad if you're worried about the size. But if you're in love with that model and won't regret selling the other pieces, then go for it.
