Yeah they should make more 47mm 30M WR Pams with spring bars and without crown guards. See what happens

I literally sent payment on a Mark XVIII just now. Oh well, it's 2892-A2 shouldn't be hard to service. :shifty:

Yeah, I think we tend to overestimate how much we, as real watch enthusiasts, matter in the grand scheme of things. I doubt most Panerai buyers would care about how the caseback was affixed, if the watch was water resistant beyond 30m etc. I doubt those design choices are having much impact on the Richemont bottom line.

That's true, but I think a lot of this is self afflicted due to over evaluation of certain brands. These lux brands were looking for the ceiling with crazy msrps and I think that turned a lot of people off. That of course is just one component, but given the current economic situation, these brands created the perfect idle bomb that seems to have detonated.

Now more then ever I wish I could find a Cartier diver at a break neck price...

Went black. It's just timeless and perfect.

Thought about the silver dial but my dornbluth has virtually the same silver white texture.

Well, richemont and swatch are two of the worst offenders when it comes to "too big" and "too expensive". I'm waiting to see what happens with a brand that doesn't constantly stomp on their own balls.

They need to "trim the fat" and stop the lavish promotions.

The Diver is cool, and I want a Santos 100 as a dress watch.

I have been eyeing several Cartier models in the last month or so. Thought it was a guilty pleasure that only I had

I would not be crying for them just yet. Obviously shareholders want more profit and growth every quarter of every year but it is not sustainable in reality.

They are still making money - a reduction in profit is not the same as going out of business.

As others have said, I think watch enthusiasts like us probably account for a very small slice of sales, with brand recognition being a bigger factor than a few questionably designed watches.
