Tudor North Flag anyone?
Tudor North Flag anyone?
Been looking for something different, and this one has caught my eye. Living up in the wilds of northern NH we don't have a lot--okay, any--watch shops or AD's up here. Anyone owned/tried on the Tudor North Flag? Any impressions of how it wore or felt on the bracelet, as the edges look quite sharp? I'm actually quite intrigued by the new movement, and it looks somewhat like a poor man's IWC Engineer.
Re: Tudor North Flag anyone?
I tried it on and liked it quite a bit.

+1. One of those watches that is better in the metal than in pictures. The problem is that in the same display case, the ADs have Black Bays and Pelagos', along with the Ranger and Heritage Chronos, so there's lots of eye candy vying for your attention, and I think the NF sort of gets lost in that company.

I don't like it at all in pictures, but I can't recall seeing it in person. If you're a flipper, buy it cheap - that watch just screams "massive depreciation".

+1, it looks great in person. But that proprietary bracelet kills it. The only way I would buy it is if it was cheap and I never planned to resell it. I don't think resell wise it is doing well, but I might be wrong.dukerules wrote:+1. One of those watches that is better in the metal than in pictures. I didn't like it at all in person, but it was alright in person. With normal lugs I'd want one.

I don't have strong feelings about this one either way. When I tried it on, it felt too light for an all steel watch. Its certainly very legible, and the decoration on displayback is quite industrial (intended to be).

Re: Tudor North Flag anyone?
A quick cross-section of reviews indicate it is indeed much better in person than photos.
There are comparisons to the lugs/lack of strap options being similar to the IWC Ingy line. Having owned an Ingy and finding almost impossible to find aftermarket straps due to some strange metal tab needed to make it work......several forums say the metal tab is not needed in the North Flag and appears that any custom leather strap maker can make a strap that will work.
I know OP is in the boonies as it relates to AD's (same here) but this one may be worth the trip to try on.

Thanks for that. She has a thing for old guys with below average wieners. You'd be just her type.hoppyjr wrote:That's exactly why I didn't send her pics of my junk.JP Chestnut wrote:You sound like my wife.hoppyjr wrote:I didn't like it at all in person, but it was alright in person.
Re: Tudor North Flag anyone?
Don't care for the PR indicator on the dial or proprietary strap. Between those two issues, never asked an AD to pull it out if the case.
Re: Tudor North Flag anyone?
Ha, yeah, I feel you on that one. I've only been looking at used ones. Been torn between this and the Ranger--want to get out of my normal black bezel/black dial box. Might be worth a trip to an AD in Boston. Thanks for the input y'all.JP Chestnut wrote:I don't like it at all in pictures, but I can't recall seeing it in person. I did try in on. It was very comfortable, unique, and seemed to be a versatile piece. I dig it.

Seem to be a great value where they're at right now, but I'd also be concerned about the flip. It's a cool watch and I like it.

I think that the price on these will settle around $2000. At that price they seem like a great value.
Re: Tudor North Flag anyone?
I can only imagine resale is gonna be rough and the unusual lugs may make it less versatile....but I dig it...cool movement and unique design....If you can get it for a decent price used, I'd jump

I like it. I don't think I'd actually spend my own money on one, though.

The Glidelock style clasp would also make me more interested.hoppyjr wrote:I didn't like it at all in person, but it was alright in person. With normal lugs I'd want one.
Re: Tudor North Flag anyone?
I like the Tudor and have thought about getting one, but for the price, I would probably get this instead....... it even comes with a hardened steel case:
As is, my Sinn 556i works just fine and would make both redundant.

I liked it much more in person-- I really liked the case and the matt black ceramic bezel..
COSC in-house--Good value for the price..
Mixed on the yellow power reserve....

Re: Tudor North Flag anyone?
Art - when you handled one did you notice if straps would doable?
Drew - if you've seen one...same question...
earlier I mentioned the Ingy strap was not conducive to custom work due to the metal tab in the strap...I don't think there is such limitation with the NF strap??
Maybe we don't see as many options simply because there aren't that many out there? no demand = no supply?
The more time I spend nosing around about these, the more I like it.
