Changed. 12 sales a year for private sellers.

Re: TZ sales rules
Gotta get that cash. I've forgotten two TZ log ins (the first over 12 years old) and haven't even bothered to figure them out. That place sucks in every possible way. It used to be populated with stick in the muds who knew a lot about watches - now it seems that all the knowledge has gone elsewhere. Leaving just a shitty looking empty shell of a forum.

I'd got to guess that 85% of their traffic is driven there by sales, and 90% of their REPUTABLE sellers fall into the category of > 12 sales a year, most of which would not pay that amount of $$.
Terrible move, IMO, and maybe the start of the actual death of TZ.

Why on earth are they bending over backwards for their dealers rather than their members, whom create all the content?

12 sales a year? Pffft - that's a good month for me

Re: TZ sales rules
Have been a TZ member for sixteen years. Used to post watches for sale on the Sales Corner there almost exclusively. Now rarely since I was threatened with banishment for "...displaying a pattern of promoting my watches" in the Vintage Forum, then listing them for sale before the designated thirty day time span expired. Thirty f'ing days? I thought it was one week like most other forums. "Promoting" my watches? Hell, I don't think thirty people even read the Vintage Forum.
Still have a good friend there that I've been buying, selling, and trading with nearly all of those years. He typically lists three watches a day, every day. Guess he'll have to become a Sponsor, or bug out.
An already lame sales forum is going to become even worse. Bad move TZ.

Re: TZ sales rules
It does seem like a silly policy, although I doubt that the average watch enthusiast lists a watch for sale every month anyway.
Re: TZ sales rules
Who uses Timezone anyway?
Re: TZ sales rules
$1500 / year as posted here http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t= ... sg_7305591. Pretty steep IMO...

Re: TZ sales rules
They killed my last sales post because I didn't have a post count of 100 or more. I haven't been back since.
Re: TZ sales rules
I haven't logged in to TZ in years. It's as useless as Timelords and 3T.

$125/month for a professional watch seller doesn't sound like very much - especially when compared to the alternatives, like eBay and it's fees.JP Chestnut wrote:That's a lot of money.R_Ongjoco wrote:$1500 / year as posted here http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t= ... sg_7305591. Re: TZ sales rules
That's true, but we aren't necessarily talking about pros. Some of the usual flippers do 12/year easily. Ultimately, with watch recon what exactly is TZ offering a seller that every other indexed forum doesn't? Nothing that I can see.logan2z wrote:$125/month for a professional watch seller doesn't sound like very much - especially when compared to the alternatives like eBay fees.JP Chestnut wrote:That's a lot of money.R_Ongjoco wrote:$1500 / year as posted here http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t= ... sg_7305591. Damn
Getting greedy
Could have done a smaller fee and by risk people leaving.

Re: TZ sales rules
I recently logged in to send a PM about a watch for sale, but can't recall the last time I visited before that. TZ doesn't provide the value it once did.

Re: TZ sales rules
I'm sure there are a handful of serial flippers who move this many watches, but I don't think it's completely unreasonable to assume that someone selling more than one watch a month is a pro.JP Chestnut wrote:That's true, but we aren't necessarily talking about pros. And I do agree that someone running a watch business using a site like TZ, WUS, or DWC should help share the costs of running the site, which are not insignificant. Why should someone else pay to keep the lights on while the watch seller gets a free ride?
As for the value proposition, I agree, not sure I see one.
Re: TZ sales rules
I like WU's model.
At first it was just a worn pair of boxers a month.
Then after the first year it was the boxers plus a personalized wiener pic, you know like writing his name on it or dipping my balls in glitter.
But anyway it works.

At any given time, there's easily a couple hundred serial flippers that sell a half dozen watches a month.logan2z wrote: I'm sure there are a handful of serial flippers who move this many watches, but I don't think it's completely unreasonable to assume that someone selling more than one watch a month is a pro.

I wouldn't be surprised if WUS follows suit.
