Oris Big Crown ProPilot Altimeter

Post by logan2z » Thu Jul 14, 2016 6:50 am

I have no real use for an altimeter in my watch, but I think this is a pretty cool release from Oris.

I saw it in person at Oris AD. The size is ridiculous but the watch did look cool.

And those huge protruding crowns. The whole thing looks like a giant instrument on the wrist that can't be worn as an everyday watch. Their regular Pilots from the same line are very pleasant

I particularly like the textile strap it comes on.....does anybody know what the lug width is on that model?

Neat looking watch but I'd still prefer to beat up a Citizen Altichron for $400.

I like the bezel. That's an interesting texture.

Jason must have reasonably large wrists, but also I think he really knows how to frame his shots for great perspective.

I just picked one up, myself. I have not really had a chance to test it yet. Going up in a small (un-pressurized) plane this week, and that will be the true test. It seems like the yellow altimeter indicator moves around on its own, which I'm not sure if that is normal...I'm a little skeptical about the altimeter, when I was driving through mountainous terrain (going up and down by >100') I did not get any indicated altimeter changes.

When you think about it, you don't really have any need for a watch in your watch. :stir:
