steinhart ocean one bronze
Re: steinhart ocean one bronze
If I were in the market for an affordable bronze, this would be it for sure

maybe the bronze will look better with some patina. right now it looks like fake gold.
at 40mm I would probably be a buyer.

Whisky has killed more men than bullets, but most men would rather be full of whisky than bullets.

Re: steinhart ocean one bronze
Someone posted elsewhere that this is more an aluminum bronze (yellow hue) rather then copper bronze (red hue).
I much prefer the copper bronze with the warm reddish hue (a la panerai)

At least it's not 44+.
Re: steinhart ocean one bronze
I thought their 42mm case wore quite well when I had their Milsub homage.
Re: steinhart ocean one bronze
This is about as much as I feel comfortable paying for a bronze diver. And with an ETA inside seem like an even better deal.r.palace wrote:If I were in the market for an affordable bronze, this would be it for sure
Does anyone know what to expect in terms of delivery from these guys? Do they really ship from Europe or from somewhere in China? Any experience to share?
If all looks good I might actually be a buyer.

When I bought few years back..came from Germany. Pretty quick turnaround too.Blackdog wrote:This is about as much as I feel comfortable paying for a bronze diver. I don't know if that much, but I agree with you that it looks better.Seppia wrote:I think the Oris bronze looks approximately 27283723737393948 times better.
My only problem with the Oris is the price. More than 2K for a bronze diver is a no go to me.
I was also considering the Archimede Bronze Sporttaucher, but the price of the Steinhart is soooooo tempting....

Very good info. Many thanks for the detailed reply.Seppia wrote:Yes they do ship from Germany.Blackdog wrote: Does anyone know what to expect in terms of delivery from these guys? Do they really ship from Europe or from somewhere in China? Any experience to share?

I've bought three watches directly from them, one for me and two for gifts.
This happened 3 years ago.
I bought two Ocean Vintage Military (older model) and one pilot watch.
Watches are a great bang for buck, I don't own the one I bought any longer but my friends who have received them as gifts have worn them non stop for three years with zero issues (they are not watch people so that's their only watch).
Their CS is.... German I would say.
Never had any real issue but they come off as slightly rude by American standards, they are very straight to the point and never sugar coat anything.
Example:
I ordered one watch, paid, had no news for like 5 days.
I send an email and they respond something like
"The watch is momentarily out of stock and the people shipping are on vacation , we estimate we will ship in 10 days".
I replied back saying "ok, you could have told me before I paid a week ago".
They get back with a one liner: "if that doesn't work we will refund the money".
So as I was saying nothing actually bad but one could have expected a bit more info before the payment and a "sorry for the inconvenience" in the last email.
Personally I ended up flipping mine because the case shape of the Sub clones is in my opinion too long.
They have very long and straight lugs so the watch never hugs the wrist well (I am pussy wristed BTW).
Still, one of the best micros out there in value for money.
Feel free to ask more if you want any additional info.
I have some time constraints. I would need it delivered to Holland within 2 weeks tops. I guess I need to find out if they have it in stock before going ahead with the order.
Re: steinhart ocean one bronze
VAT is a curse I can't escape: I live in Holland. My time constraints are because I would like to receive the watch before going on holiday.Seppia wrote:No worries feel free to ask.
If you are from overseas (non Europe) I would recommend you have it shipped there: you will spend more on shipping compared to Holland but you will avoid vat, which is around 20%.
It comes out much cheaper.
Re: steinhart ocean one bronze
yeah, i like the oris a lot better, too. but as blackdog said, that's a pretty hefty price difference (5-6X).

The SportTaucher is gorgeous!Blackdog wrote:Seppia wrote: I was also considering the Archimede Bronze Sporttaucher, but the price of the Steinhart is soooooo tempting....
Re: steinhart ocean one bronze
steinhart is $420 in the US. i can't remember if the oris is $2000 or $2400 MSRP. now, can probably get the oris for less, but not less than a grand.
Re: steinhart ocean one bronze
Oris MSRP is around 2800. Even with a 30% off it's not in the same ballpark

They make good looking watches, but those straight lugs create overhang for me.

The cheapest I've seen the Oris for sale in Europe is just above 2000 euros (BNIB).gwells wrote:steinhart is $420 in the US. i can't remember if the oris is $2000 or $2400 MSRP. now, can probably get the oris for less, but not less than a grand.
I got the go-ahead from the wife and called the good guys of Steinhart to confirm the availability, but unfortunately, the bronzes are already sold out ATM.
They expect to get new stock by the end of next week, but that is clearly outside of my constraints window...
I'll check again after I come back from the holidays.
