Re: New Omega Planet Ocean Deep Black!
The majority of what Omega is offering these days doesn't do a lot for me.
cheers,

I used to love Omega in the 90s, but I won't pay $5k for a fashion watch.
Re: New Omega Planet Ocean Deep Black!
Why would they go with 45.5? I guess my boutique guy doesn't know the inside scoop after all.

I like the all black one and 45.5 would fit me well. Any idea on pricing?

Re: New Omega Planet Ocean Deep Black!
MSRP around 11K, so a street price after the hype would be around 6-7. That's a lot of watch for the $ but would you get that over similarly priced Explorer 2

Thx Art, and good point re the ExpII, which is very high on my list.Panerai7 wrote:MSRP around 11K, so a street price after the hype would be around 6-7. That's a lot of watch for the $ but would you get that over similarly priced Explorer 2

At that price if you're going to go black, go flyback..

The case finishing and construction techniques on that omega makes the IWC look like a toy. IWC went from carbon pioneers to almost worst in class.

You said that in the airport restroom too....ericf4 wrote:I like the black one.

I like this one as well but at 45.5 might be too big, although I have read they wear smaller..

+1...IWC would charge you 10K and put a Sellita in it..
Re: New Omega Planet Ocean Deep Black!
Definitely Mike. Shorter downslopping lugs help

$10,900 with a fully in-house flyback chronograph movement. I get some of the IWC negativity but let's at least be accurate in our criticism.jimyritz wrote:============JP Chestnut wrote:The case finishing and construction techniques on that omega makes the IWC look like a toy. Re: New Omega Planet Ocean Deep Black!
Price is fine, but the case is very basic. It's still the same baked ceramic on top of a metal core that they've been doing since the 3705. Omega, and others, is machining their cases out of ceramic blocks.logan2z wrote:$10,900 with a fully in-house flyback chronograph movement. That's not to say the Omega is perfect. It's overpriced, some of the versions are horrible, and the movement is more "in house" than in house.

Re: New Omega Planet Ocean Deep Black!
I like the black, the red and blue are a little much, but too big.
My first impression was WOW but then that's my first impression at almost all black or ceramic watches, then it passes and I'm meh.

I played with this one the other day and after I threw up on a the windshield date window I got a good look at it. I guess I got spoiled with BP Ceramic, but it feels and looks like any other matte PVD watch I've ever seen. Looks pretty much like my Sinn 142 PVD than ceramic. No brushing, no interesting angles, no different surfaces, just coated metal. Omega looks chiseled, someone spent time carving that. IWC felt more like plasti dipped SS.
I have not seen in the flesh the new one Andrew posted above so I hope it looks more like ceramic

Re: New Omega Planet Ocean Deep Black!
I don't get why they just introduced all the new Master Co-Axial PO's at Basel in an all-new 43mm size, but then would announce these in the 45.5. Doesn't make sense to me. Did they forget about the "other" new ones?
That said, if they would just make a 3-hander (don't want/need the GMT to clutter the dial) I'd take the black one. I want a DSOTM but this would fit the bill nicely.

A 43mm three-hand version in black steel DLC, complete with adjustable clasp and master co-axial motor - priced at $6k - then I'm in.outtatime wrote:I don't get why they just introduced all the new Master Co-Axial PO's at Basel in an all-new 43mm size, but then would announce these in the 45.5. I still can't get past the hash-marks around the bezel of all the new POs. Not sure why it bothers me so much.
