New Strap Design what you guys think??

Post by ChaseCJ7 » Mon Nov 23, 2015 10:15 am

An idea I've been toying around with for a while and made up a sample and wanted to get some thoughts on it. Even with all the extra stitching the Italian Calf is still super soft and supple, which is a must for me. Just not sure people would pay for all the work that goes into one like this or not. Or even care for the design for that matter. And is it more for a driver watch, diver, or does it work for both?

Or should I just trash the idea all together..

Not my style personally but I can appreciate the clean craftsmanship. I'm sure there's a market for these, Danny immediately comes to mind but I'm sure you already knew that :shifty:

Looks really cool to me Aaron ! :headbang: Has the personality of a NATO with the
stripe, and overall style. ..Then has this extremely high end leather strap vibe to
it too. It's a really neat idea I think. Man, pretty awesome how you did this !

Terrific job !!!

Gonna change my name to DannyLegend. Everyone can't stop thinking of me :P

That strap is for the motosport watch guy.

Tom also describes it well. 'Personality of a NATO'

I think mastering a specific style would be good as opposed to having too many different styles. Depends on the road you wanna take.

You did a great job on the stitching and painting of the stripe. Looks laser straight from here. [THUMBS UP SIGN]

That actually nails the reason for this strap. I have the Speedracer already on the site, and it is alone in its genre so I'm either going to add on to that style/line a bit, or drop it all together.

Craftsmanship looks to be excellent. I would make a couple to showcase them but only sell them as custom made straps. Definitely for the "driving" watches, but depending on the colors, I could see Panerai fans wearing them (brown and green? black and dark green? black and gray?).

The only thing I don't love is that the orange stripe looks really shiny.

Hey Danny, that strap could work on your Polar ExpII.... think about it!

I think people would line up to buy that. Not my cup of tea, but it looks very well made and the design will appeal to many, IMO

I think it looks cool and well made. I don't wear leather, because I no longer have watches that work on leather, but if I did I'd wear that. I will say this - long ago I used to make straps (Panerai) and every once in a while I'd experiment with different stitching, custom buckles, etc and what I found personally was that nobody wanted to pay for the extra work or materials. YMMV.

Thanks guys really appreciate the solid input thus far.
I've been thinking if I do add it to the line up I'll do a variation with a blue stripe and orange stitching to pull off somewhat of a Gulf theme.

Couple pics for additional reference.

Yes, it looks a lot better attached to the watch.

There's a lot of Natos that follow your pattern. Looks really sharp. Should be popular as a specialty order.

Not my cup of tea. My honest opinion is scrap the idea. I think the market is very limited. Make it custom if someone wants to pony up the cash.

I appreciate the workmanship! My advice would be to change the orange to a little less conspicuous color eg. grey (a la 007) so it would be better suited for a larger variety of watches, if you know what I mean...

It seems really well made and I like the colors, but I am not sure I would have any watch for it. It seems really sporty and eye catching though. Paired with the right watch it would look awesome. That's a fantastic stitching job you did there. The leather also look really soft and comfortable.
