Two Divers that see the Pacific Ocean a few times a week.
I recently took up surfing, had to get a surf watch.
Sorry I've been a bit busy switching coasts. I have another Orient on the way and some Orbis Morgan straps coming. I also plan to splurge on an underwater tough camera so we might get some action shots in the next few weeks.
I'll tell ya, the NATO straps do not feel 100% secure when you're being thrown around the ocean like a rock in a tin can. Hopefully the rubber isofrane style straps inspire more confidence.
Aren't the best shots with hands covering hands but I'll shoot them for real when the orbis morgan rubber straps come in.
Oh, also if you've never owned a Mako with sword hands, you should get one. It's unbelievable they're $113 on amazon prime. It feels at least like a $400 watch and it looks nice. Also they're from the Orient just like me.

Nice! I'm with you on the NATOs. I think Zulus make me feel a little more comfortable in that area, because of the sinch and tuck when securing one. I've been weirded out ever since I read about springbar failures, so I rarely do the leather or rubber route.
Then again, I'm known to be an idiot.

Orange or black iso / orbis will look great on the orient. I've worn my Sub on a nato whilst surfing, but rarely bother with them nowadays and just wear a wrist lanyard I use when diving instead. Good luck with the surfing.

Good to hear from you on DWC, though I have followed your latest passions on Instagram. Did the aquarium make the trip west?

I love to hear of dive watches being used as they are made to be used. My son scuba dives with his Omega Seamaster Bond and I really dig that... and so does he.
Enjoy your time in the water.

Oh wow, beautiful shots of those beauties there !
Honestly never noticed so much detail as am seeing in both of these watches
in these pictures here. The Seamaster almost looks like an entirely new watch
with the way the dial is showing up. You can see different blues, and even a
black it seems.
Love the way you got the Mako to look as well. You captured the tone of the
orange, and just how cool those watches are as a whole. Those NATO's send
them both into the stratosphere by the way ! Extraordinary sir. Thanks a lot,
and great to see you back !

Beautiful pics as always Jae.

Hey Jae, good to see you are well and having fun. Great pics as usual.
I would like to suggest you use Zulu strap instead of Nato's. They are usually thicker and more secure.
If you prefer rubber that's your choice of course, but as to fabric type straps, Zulu (the ones with roundish type hardware) is the way to go to have more security, thickness and less flopping around.

Missed your pics Jae....

My only concern about recommending Gasgasbones' straps for surfing is the velcro closure. The velcro on my leashes gets gummed up with bits of sea weed and sand over the season. I have to spray them clean a few times a year.toxicavenger wrote:try those on gasgasbones and they will feel more secure
Jae - do you wear a wetsuit? I wear a 3/2 almost all summer here in the northeast and wear my watches under the wetsuit cuff. When I'm just sitting on the board I can peel back the cuff to check the time, but when I'm surfing (and wiping out) the wetsuit gives my watches some protection.
Also, wearing the watch under the cuff provides your board a little protection from your watch. If you have a good wipe out, I could see the potential of smacking your hand / wrist down on the board. A lug would certainly have the potential to give your board a good ding.

I didn't think of that, the same happened overseas from all the sweat it would wear out the velcroRyeguy wrote:My only concern about recommending Gasgasbones' straps for surfing is the velcro closure. Re: Two Divers that see the Pacific Ocean a few times a week
Thanks guys.
I do like Zulu straps and wore one in Costa Rica a lot. I don't wear a wet suit here but I do have one and will strap on the full body condom probably around late October when the water gets cold here. Putting it under the suit is a great idea.

Looks good, Jae. Getting transferred to San Diego in October. Maybe we will bump into each other at some point. Where's your break?
