What do you guys think about doing away with rule #6?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Re: You input is appreciated - weapons rule?
All for it.
*edit* - Let me provide clarification to my terribly worded response. I'm all for doing away with the "no weapons" rule.

Weapons is such a harsh word for fine knives and firearms.
As the post states... Weapons Rule!

Re: You input is appreciated - weapons rule?
One question..
If we don't like the watch (let's say so) and we put the nuke photo next to it.. or something.. Is that considered as the rule breaking?
I'm against weapons normally since it's unusual in Europe to show it / talk about it (unless you're Swiss) but spending time on US forums I almost got used to it.. Am I normal?
Anyhoo -- the question remains..

Re: You input is appreciated - weapons rule?
As long as everyone follows the protocol: "you can post weapons, but not guns." Then I have no objection.
The main thing that we cannot lose sight of...this is a watch forum, not a firearms or edged weapon forum. So every WUW pic need not include a handgun or knife (or female in state of semi-undress)...but man (and woman) cannot live on bread (or wristwatches) alone, so I am game to loosen the rules a bit.

I don't really mind pics that include weapons (need someway to suss out who the hicks here are ).
If you want to allow weapons back into the main fora, how about a rule against pics that are violent, i.e. gun/knives pointed at people, shooting people, etc. A pic of a gun laying on a counter with a watch draped over it isn't "offensive" in my book.

Re: You input is appreciated - weapons rule?
I agree with the difference betweem weapons pics and violent pics. One of my few good ones got yanked by WUS, because it was an Omega draped over a K-31 rifle. I thought I was just showing two examples of fine Swiss craftsmanship. Apparently, I was inciting violence.
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

As some are upset with pictures of knives and pistols, just keep 'em in the Rumble Room.
Because some like those pics.

. . . as a prop, theyr'e fine. By themselves is another thing . . .
. . .also, as long as they are not the kind of pics my neighbour showed me. Asks if I want to see a pic of his automatic . . . a rifle of some sort . . . I just said " Yeah sure . ." . Shit, the picture was of his naked 5"2" 195# wife holding the gun, standing in a field somewhere. I hate that guy now.

Re: You input is appreciated - weapons rule?
Let me be the first (or second... ) to say that NO violent images involving weapons would be tolerated. Period. And so far, even in the rumble room, that hasn't been the case (well, save for the post I made a long while back showing US forces gunning down terrorists, shown thru night vision cameras - but you couldn't see any weapons.. )
anyway, everybody has always seemed to keep a level head when it comes to this stuff so I would not predict anybody going ape sh!t crazy and posting up faces of death type imagery or violent images involving weapons. A gun/knife pic with a watch is far from violent. I have never once conjured the thought of "violence" by the mere image of a gun or knife (but then again, I grew up in the south where gun racks in truck windows was the norm....and yes, David, i'm one of the self-proclaimed hicks. ).
I know a lot of you folks here are either not familiar with weapons, firearms specifically, or live in an area/country where ownership is regulated heavily or completely forbidden. And while a lot of us here do own firearms and other weaponry, I never lose sight of this forums purpose: watches. (well, and the camaraderie ). And while it might suffice to have the OP of a thread provide a disclaimer in the title such as "gun content" or such, WRUW threads would be much more difficult to do.
Again, we want everybody to feel at home here and enjoy every second of it. We are all about the watches, but some of us aren't content with just one obsession - and firearms/knives happen to be another area where we love to show what we got.

Not triggerhappy but like seeing tacticool photo of a zulu strapped PVD with a badass knife / gun.. Don't know.. it has something to do with artistic impression..
Re: You input is appreciated - weapons rule?
I say do away with rule #6. But replace it with:
No pics anywhere containing both weapons AND people (I guarantee, common sense will get abused faster than you can say second amendment)
No off-topic, weapons-only pics on watch fora. Those should go in the three "Fun Stuff" fora. In other words, I don't want to see photos of your new knife or handgun posted on the Dive Watch Forum (I want to see dive watches). But if the photos of your new dive watch include a knife or handgun, that's fine.

Re: You input is appreciated - weapons rule?
I don't have a problem seeing Knives or Firearms in pictures, no matter how they are pictured. I've always
thought Firearms and Watches fell in the same class as Precision Instruments. I don't want to see any
Dead, burned, or mutilated bodies here, not that it offends me in most cases, but it is a watch forum. I don't
want to see pictures of Dead animals either. I'd just as well jump in the car or on my bike and go see some
high tech precision Firearm as I would a watch.
Actually I'm more offended at scantily clad female pictures posted here then firearms. I Love scantily clad
females!.....even like them UNclad better......I just don't think they belong in a watch forum, but I'm not going
to bitch and spoil someone elses party just because I don't necessarily share their view. Personally, I like seeing
Quality firearms and watches together.
Regards Sonny

The Poll says "weapon pics should be relegated to the Rumble room". I dont see it as relegation. The Rumble Room was a great and successful idea,we all know anything that some people might find offensive, belongs in there with no problem and just light moderation. What other watch forums allow that? None i think. Personally i dont mind weapon pics and wont mind if guns are shown in the main forum, but we have done fine without them so far....so if it aint broken, dont fix it,is my opinion. Us Brits dont see guns on an everyday basis let alone own them. We get quite alarmed to see British Police with sub-machine guns at our Airports and even more concerned at seeing the Armed response units in action as we have done more than once in the last few weeks. The vast majority of members here are not Brits and are used to seeing guns and many of you own them,so i'm happy to go with the majority vote. Knives are now a major problem here and everything is being done to stop people carrying them in public, infact its an offence here if the blade is over 3 inches long. I would rather see pics of knives and guns on a 'weapons' forum though.

I have yet to use the only automatic weapon I own in the photo with other watches. It's the version of American 180 Voere but Euro made and with polymer materials. MGV176

Never had a heart to make the photo.
I HAVE TO SAY, I DON'T LIKE OWNING GUNS NOR I SHOOT, I was a regional airgun champion and 2nd in Croatia with my Anschütz 335 Magnum air rifle back in highschool but this was a gift from my father's army buddy before he moved to Australia.
I used it only once and I was 13.

Andy, you bring up a good point here, and you are absolutely correct about the RR. When we started DWC, of course we wanted it to be different and light handed moderation was essential. Naturally, we figured the RR would be for ALL off topic stuff, including firearms. What has happened over time is that we're finding a few occasional pics of watches with guns/knives, always tastefully done (to date), and they usually end up in the WRUW threads or other non-RR threads. SO in an effort to get rid of the bright line rule and ease the regulation on posting up weapons in the main forums, we thought it'd be good to get feedback from you all.
