They do make a spring bar that works like a screw bar for this very purpose.

it sticks out a bit from the lug holes of the cd2

Ah, guess I didn't think about that. I never had an Aegir but as far as the screw bar diameter goes the Tunchoy open end type meshes fit the Kobold Seal screw bar and the likes.

Balls. I'll have to see if Micah has anything close. I like how pliable it looks. I love both of my Metta Catherina straps, but options are good.

Try Corojo or Brindle. Both are very comfortable and have a similar texture to the grab bag leather.
