Classic digital watches

Post by AtomicTom » Fri Apr 10, 2015 1:03 pm

Just saw this awesome article from Worn & Wound about digital watches everybody, and thought you might like it. They talk about the history, and various types from LED, and LCD, to LCD, and analogue guys. You get a great look at all different classic digital watches from everyone from Citizen, Seiko, and Pulsar, to Omega, Longines, Heuer, and some you might not have seen before like Sinclair.

Worn & Wound's link everybody...

All very cool. I remember as a kid, being fascinated by LED watches that lit up when you pressed a button. Recently bought this one - 1974 Bulova "Big Block". Not everyone's cup 'o tea. Either you love it or hate it. I think it's funky cool...

I had an LCD digital from a brand called "Sensor". It had a tritium tube behind the display, which kept it illuminated in the dark. Hours and minutes on display, seconds, day and date on demand (button). It was pretty high speed for a high school freshman back in the mid-70's. I wish I still had it.

I had an LED watch way back. Everyone thought it was pretty cool.

Steve, that Bulova looks just incredible !!! :headbang:

Think it's ridiculously cool with not only the LED, but case shape, and texture
that goes all through both it, and the bracelet !

Hoppy, your Sensor sounded amazing !!! :excited:

Don't really remember the name, so that's great right there sir. Then the whole
using tritium theme makes it ahead of it's time !

When I was about 8 I already started liking watches. Around that age I saved up my money and went to radio shack to get an LCD watch where you could push the side button and it would say "ding! The time is___ eleven, fourth two__ am".
I thought it was the coolest thing even after my parents told me it was made for blind people.

Great article. This watches are the ones most of us grew up with.
