Has anyone else tried using UV to charge lume?
Has anyone else tried using UV to charge lume?
Maybe 5 secs waving a little UV flashlight over my watch box did this.
Even the old seamaster lume on the bottom right charged.

Yep, works like a charm.
Re: Has anyone else tried using UV to charge lume?
Yea, it's good stuff. I grabbed a couple cheap UV flashlights on Amazon, to charge my lume before bed. Yes, I'm a dork.

The salesman at the Blancpain store in Vegas had a cool little UV light that he used. I ordered one.

Re: Has anyone else tried using UV to charge lume?
So, the question is, can such a light bring back to life a seemingly dead lume? Will such witchcraft restore what is dark?
Re: Has anyone else tried using UV to charge lume?
No. It will only "charge up" lume, just as if it sat in the sunshine.MyCrownHurts wrote:So, the question is, can such a light bring back to life a seemingly dead lume? Will such witchcraft restore what is dark?
Re: Has anyone else tried using UV to charge lume?
Was wondering what da heck a uv flashlight was good for other than charging lume. Here's a list, but the real answer seems to be not much. I don't need to know what's been left behind in the hotel room.
A/C refrigeration leak detection
Adhesive curing
Antique inspection
Art forgery/repair tests
Detecting some bacteria
Night Club hand stamp screening
Fabric and Textiles
Fluorescent dye leaks
Forgery Detection
Glass and glass repair inspection
Human bodily fluid tracing
Hunting/animal blood tracking
ID and document Verification
Mineral lighting and identification
Pet and pest stains
Reading invisible fluorescent inks
Scorpion illumination

Bought one recently, lots of fun for the divers in the collection.
Sadly some of my vintages are just too tired, even with direct lighting

Re: Has anyone else tried using UV to charge lume?
This question goes to any member who owns multiple dive watches:gwells wrote:Maybe 5 secs waving a little UV flashlight over my watch box did this.

I know this thread is over a year old, but which of your watches' (non-radioactive) lume lasts the longest? And please list your other watch models for comparison. Thanks!

Hey, Frank; an introduction would be a much better first post; welcome to DWC.ZephyrNYC wrote: I know this thread is over a year old, but which of your watches' (non-tritium) lume lasts the longest? And please list your other watch models for comparison. Thanks!
