ok I rarely do this but I'm very undecided trying to pick between these two:

your thoughts and opinions are appreciated. One is more traditional looking the other more modern and a spring drive, just not sure

Number 2 for me. I want to have a spring drive at some point.

I like them both, prefer #2- the only thing that might hold me back is the
size of #2 at 43.5...That could be a non-issue depending on your wrist size.

Yes I haven't been able to find out what a lug to lug distance is. The other thing I wonder about is if the "standard" non springdrive movement will be easier to service

You could send a note to Brett at Timeless Luxury and he might be able to help...

I'd go with the spring drive one all the way. I'd be curious if ADs discount these at all. I got a quote on one, with a trade on my end, and was just told I'd owe "x" amount and that the watch MSRP was X. I thought the trade value (MSRP-what I'd owe) was fair but was a little surprised that they used MSRP to quote me. Maybe my expectations weren't in line with reality. In all fairness, the AD did suggest a couple of alternatives, answered my questions, and I would definitely still buy a GS from them, but I was just a little surprised about the MSPR pricing.

edit: CM, shoot me a text if you want to talk about the AD or want the contact.

If you can pull off the size, go with the SD.

I'll be in the minority here. #1 based on the look alone. Something about #2 I just cant put my finger on.

I prefer the aesthetic and movement of the spring drive. Both are unique to Seiko and embody all that's good about Seiko.

#2 by far for me. I've seen them both in person at the Seiko boutique in NY and #2 is just stunning.

I can't help but feel that the bezel on the first one is stolen from the Explorer and the second one from the GMT.. That would drive me mad... Sadly, I say neither ...

The second one has the Seiko "Speedmaster Pro" bracelet. I'd take the Explorer 2 homage with an automatic movement over the SD/Omega bracelet combo.

Exactly.. It's like a combo of ripping everyone else off... I would get it if the watches were cheap, but, these aren't cheap fuckers! I would want some original design for that price..

Sorry, I don't mean to be negative, but, I just couldn't get past it ..

The second one is hotter in my opinion and I'd rock that.

Unfortunately, more times than not, when Seiko does "original" it looks like this:
ignore the omega bracelet.JPG
I actually like both the watches in this thread, and do genuinely prefer the Explorer 2 looking one. It's simply strange that the MM300 is such a lovely looking original dive watch and so many of their higher-end offerings are totally derivative.

Think Im going with number 1, #2's dial is just a little too busy. The power gauge clutters it up for me I think. Hmmmmm not sure
