So, I have had Matt's modded 41mm Kobold Soarway diver with the domed crystal and red hand for closing in on two years now (see pic), and I still love it. Of late, I have been toying with buying a black Phantom bezel and insert and adding it to give it a bit of a Sinn SDR look (black bezel, brushed stainless case). Brice's pics of his Sinn SDR and my recently added Sinn UX S have definitely jumped started my thinking.

Brian at Kobold has said they would sell me the bezel and I could keep the old one, but I would have to send it in to them to confirm which Kobold case and bezel works and it would cost $500 plus shipping. I am leaning towards leaving it alone at this price, but thought I would see what others think. I personally think it would look great, but not sure worth that amount of $$$. At $300, I am doing it, perhaps even $400, but at $500 plus... Don't think so unless the lottery comes a calling.

$500 seems rather expensive. How much is shipping and how much is parts? I think it would look much better with the black bezel though. Since it's already modded, how about just sending off the existing bezel to be DLC'd or something?

I considered modding my 41mm soarway diver but could never justify the cost. Plus the watch looks, feels, and works just fine. I'm scared of them messing it up in the process....

I wouldn't let them touch anything. It'll likely come back in site condition then received. My vote goes to a IWW dlc job

I modded mine with a new dial and domed crystal, but I don't think I'd change yours at all. It looks perfect, IMHO.

Okay...I'm changing my answer. DLC job seems cheaper, though I still think it would look funny. If an SDR is what you want, get it.

Thanks guys. The "No" camp is definitely winning and that is where I am leaning. I don't think I would go the DLC route mainly because I do like this bezel as is and would want the option of going back and forth. I may just offer up $350 to Kobold and see if that works (I expect it would not).
