I didn't interact with him as a mod, be he was noticeably less stupid than most people on WUS before becoming a mod.

Yup, I think Geoff is a good guy. I've never interacted with any mod over there, but just as a poster he seemed cool.

Something is obviously going on over there.

When our local board got bought out by the same group, there were no noticeable changes to anything we were doing as mods, the board rules were the same, no change in enforcing them (or not), etc etc. So I'm surprised to see such an exodus of mods over there just based on my own experience.

I never spent much time over on WUS to begin with so I'm not too bothered either way, but I'm curious what the inside story is :)

One more thing, we've had mods who got tired of being mods and have drifted away or stopped using their 'mod powers' but never bothered with the big "I'm not a mod any more" threads. I mean really, who cares normally ...

As to why they are leaving? My assumption is many of them are Ernie sycophants who felt some loyalty to him but don't feel the aggravation is worth it for some corporation. I would imagine it is much less fun being a mod there than here.

Yeah the place is definitely changing, you can sense it - and not for the better. Not just talking about mods leaving either. Although too many of them have said "it has nothing to do with the new owners" to believe it anymore.
