there is a good ploprof book done by the guys at deskdiver.com
Stan, don’t you know the first law of physics? Anything that’s fun costs at least eight dollars”
-- Eric Cartman

“To absent friends, lost loves, old gods, and the season of mists; and may each and every one of us always give the devil his due.”
― Neil Gaiman, The Sandman

I bought a cheap watch from a crazy man
Floating down canal
It doesn't use numbers or moving hands
It always just says now
Now you may be thinking that I was had
But this watch is never wrong
And If I have trouble the warranty said
Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On

I'd suggest the IWC "Engineering Time" book. It'd serve Terpits well. It's large enough to double as an actual coffee table. Very cool book. But a bit pricey.

^ You are most welcome. It is a great book with great photos and covers almost every angle of the Doxa Sub watch from design to the vintage BoR bracelets.

The fuck?!?

Seeing as the thread was bumped, I recently got the "A Man & His Watch" book and the new "The Watch" (had the original but gave it away):

Still thinking about buying "Moonwatch Only", but its expensive and at this point I'm wondering if I should wait for a new edition or re-release of the original (none are planned as far as I know).

They published an updated edition in 2017, with a red cover. I have the first edition with the black cover. It's a great book, and worth having if you're thinking about collecting Speedmasters, but it is pricey. The new edition is on Amazon for $290! I think I paid about half that for the first edition.

Ha! Didn't know about the new version, thanks. I did see the $290 price just now. I do love my Speedy but do not intend to start collecting them. For $290 I can get the book or another Seiko

I really like the Gene Stone book, had a bunch of those Wristwatch Annuals, tried to donate to the local thrift shops as well as boxes of Watchtime mags from the 2000's, but they are overrun with books and magazines, guess I have to leave them on the doorstep at night, stealth-mode!

I have the original Moonwatch Only, but I got it as a gift. I wouldn't pay MSRP for it, either. It's cool and the pictures are very nice, but once you've been through it a few times the novelty wears off. It is a good resource if you're looking to buy a Speedy, particularly vintage. But you can find a lot of the same information online.

I also have the Mondani Rolex Submariner book. Basically same analysis as MWO.

I recently bought the Chasing Time book seen above. It's cheap.

Surprised nobody's mentioned Seamaster to Seamaster yet. Buncha nerds over on the OF got all bent outta shape that it's not an exhaustive reference manual, or the Seamaster version of Moonwatch Only, but I actually much prefer what it actually is: a collection of stupid-beautiful art shots of each of the Seamaster's key permutations over the years. Pretty neat seeing all these older vintage editions and lesser-known Seamasters photographed by Philippe Lacombe, one of the best still-life photogs in the game.
