Kalmar 2, the result of no sleep and a manic mind

Post by DCJ » Fri Jul 25, 2014 2:12 pm

Woke in the middle of the night with the Kalmar 2 on my mind. So I find myself at the laptop configuring a Kalmar 2 just messing around with different variations. Earlier that day my wife had walked by and saw the Blue dial with Orange hands and said wow that looks really different and good. Before I knew it I had it narrowed down to the Blue Dial against the Orange Hands and the Black MOP Dial. Both look great! Anyways I was not planning on ordering it but my finger slipped on the pay now button and this is the result of no sleep ;) Pretty excited to get this variation as I have all Black Dialed Divers. Anyone know exactly when these ship or is that up in the air??

i've never seen anything like it so can't help with the shipping etc. but may i say great looking dial/hand combo and what an OX of a watch! robust is not a robust enough word to describe the obvious heft of that watch. solid. very very solid. what is the weight i wonder?

I have several in the "My Configurations" bucket. Yesterday, I even pushed the "Pay Now" button. Unfortunately, I saw shipping was $76 and change to Texas and I changed my mind.

I like the looks of your Kalmar II. Good luck with it young lad.

You won't pay $76 to ship a $1000 watch from Germany to Texas? Weird.

Shipping was about that on my Orca IIRC, but no customs duty.

Oh, I'm even weirder than that. The watch I'd put together was going to cost about $1,400... quite a bit more than I've ever paid for a watch and I was cringing at that. I just could not handle the extra $76.

Edited to add: I realize I did pay $1,400 for my Sinn U1, but that just seems different to me. The same Sinn, with the bracelet is now $2,000 plus I believe.
