Noob winding question

Post by suddha » Fri Dec 11, 2009 6:36 am

A bit embarrassed to ask this... but the Ploprof is my first destro (lefty crown) watch. If I ever manage to pry this off my wrist and let it sit longer than 60 hours (looooong power reserve!), which direction do I wind the crown to start her up again? The generic Omega manual is written for a standard crown watch.

Thanks, guys....

My Heuer has the crown on the left. Also, I had a MM destro handcranker as well. Flip the watch so that the crown is on the right, then wind it the normal way.

Thanks, David. That is what feels right, to flip it 'round and wind as usual. The winding is so quiet on this one, it feels/sounds the same either way, so I wasn't sure.

Some guy on wus said that he never winds his watches, just straps them on to the wheel of his car for a drive through the neighborhood. You could give that a try.. :banplz:

That's silly, just strap it on to the end of the electric mixer...Voila!

I use my 18v Dewalt drill, set it on high speed, and let it rip for a minute or two :fro: :fro:

Love the redneck winder ideas, guys. Screw the cherry wood $1000 winder. A kitchen mixer set on low will do the same job. :bananastoner:

Seriously? I love that. I'm going home and doing that tonight just so my wife and kids can make fun of me.
No thanks, I'm trying to cut down

It is interesting with those Omegas. Man, they wind like butter.
