thought i'd introduce myself
thought i'd introduce myself
i've lurked a little in the past, but seeing as how i've really honed in on divers the past year or two and they've become the larger part of my collection, i thought i'd join in the fun.
started collecting watches about 2.5 years ago when i decided to "get a nice watch" and set myself a limit of $250. immediately spent $750 on two pilot watches and the addiction began. just sold the first one to fund my halios tropik earlier this year.
from VA, just outside DC.
i've seen some pretty cool watches here browsing around. my collection consists of:
omega AT 8500 opaline
christopher ward C60 FLE red
halios tropik ss black
zodiac seawolf
magrette rose gold MPP
junghans meister handwound
seiko SNZH51
maratac mid pilot
citizen ecodrive beater
63 citizen ace (cheapo birth year watch)
not sure exactly where i'll go from here. that birth year watch will be replaced by something more special (maybe a vintage speedy). kinda want to grab a helson blackbeard to replace the seiko. who knows.
anyway, hiya.

thanks all.
pics? ok. i mean, you can't be a watch nut without pics, right? i still get shit from my inlaws for the pictures of my showing off my c60 the first time i dove with it.
vintage zodiac seawolf. picked this up a little over a year ago. smallest watch i own, but i love it. still get a lot of compliments on it.

christopher ward c60 FLE. first watch i got as a present from my wife (she's pretty unbelievable so far with presents, but i'm supposedly still limited to my 12 slot watch box). my first watch was a CWL C8 pilot, which i've since sold, but she saw me ogling this on the christopher ward forum and sneakily bought me the last one (of 50).

second watch she bought me, my pride and joy, the aqua terra. 50th birthday present.

staying on the them, my christmas present last year, the junghans meister handwound. also a complete surprise. i'd shown her the picture from ablogtowatch review, i think she liked it.

one of my two beaters, the seiko snzh51. i've since swapped this onto the halios black shark skin, which i think looks great on this watch.

most recent acquisition, the magrette rose gold MPP. this one i'm still trying to decide what leather strap to buy for it. i've been looking at straps from custom makers all over the web and can't quite seem to make a decision. might make a separate post on the straps board to see if anyone has suggestions. tough watch to buy for, i think.

1963 citizen ace. an inexpensive hand wound birth year watch. doesn't get a lot of wrist time any more.
1963 Citzen Ace on Ostrich by gbwells, on Flickr
maratac mid pilot, second watch i bought, first one that actually arrived (the C8 vintage, since sold, was a preorder)

true beater, the citizen ecodrive. my only non-mechanical.

last, but not least, the halios tropik ss. really looking forward to jason bringing out the bracelet for this, but i think it looks pretty good on the shark mesh until then.

This place is awesome. Opposite of most other watch forums, you will get unfiltered (understatement of the century) responses to what you post. Now,

Truly outstanding watches and pics man! You'll fit right in here. And it doesn't hurt that in your dive pic you look a whole lot like Old Gregg!
