A few to try

Post by lilhoody » Sat Jan 11, 2014 11:26 am

In looking through the 2014 Wrist Watch Annual, a few watches jump out at me. All retail under $10K USD. I would like to try each of them someday.

1. Eberhardt & co. - Tazio Nuvolari Vanderbuilt Cup "Naked"

2. Omega - Seamaster PO Good Planet GMT

3. Eterna - Royal Kontiki Two Time Zones
Image

4. Zenith - Montre d'Aeronef Type 20. This piece is 40mm. It's too bad there isn't something in between the 48mm pilots and this; they are all so stunning, just extreme on the sizes.

The Omega is terrible. The Zenith looks badass!

Some interesting pieces-I like the looks of the Eberhard a lot. The Eterna looks like it has some LW DNA to it.

Man, that Eterna is sweet. I'm not too sure about that orange and blue combination on the Omega.

That Zenith is badass, and at 40mm it might be the big pilot substitute I've been looking for.

I saw the Zenith pilots at an AD today. The DLC GMT version is very cool (Limited to 500 pcs). Surprisingly it didn't look as insanely big on the wrist as I thought it would at 48mm. It had the nicest black leather strap I think I've ever seen on a watch. The leather was so soft and the workmanship looked superb.

They had the 57.5mm as well. Now that thing is ridiculous!

Exactly. Those are the two watches that come to mind when I see this piece. The blue on the Omega is no my favorite, I really liked the look of the prototype. If Zenith had averaged these two, with a 44mm, I'd be all over it. I like the look of these better than the Big Pilot.

The zenith pilots looked impressive at the Inside Basel show. That Eterna definitely has some Genta styling notes. I like it.

Mouth watering pieces, indeed.

Zenith has been growing on me a lot these days. You will make me poorer! Thanks :-(

I tried that Orange PO Good Planet at Omega Boutique in Downtown Vancouver a few months back. Wow! It is a fantastic piece!

The Omega and the Eterna are the winners in that group.

Zenith is cool. That omega photo looks like a glamour shot or a Sears catalog.

Damn you Todd! I am trying to stay strong but your pilot keeps drawing me in! My current favorite omega also but I just haven't felt the pull quite as hard from the lately.

The case on the Eterna looks sweet but I am not a big fan of the typeface they used for the numerals. I think it could have been much less lazy and boring.

Also way too much writing on the dial with nonsense bullshit.
