Dissenting opinion here. It looks stupid as hell.
Why take a perfectly good new watch and make it look old and outdated? I don't get it.
The only plus is the sub C case looks a bit better with the chamfered lugs although I am on the fence as to the degree of chamfering.
And for that money I can think of lots of better watches to buy.

Just send your watchmaker a new SubC, tell him to "really" polish the hell out of the crown side, relume the dial with some yellow superluminova and you're almost there. And saved a boatload of cash...you can even get him to drill some lug holes.
Cheers,

Is it just me, or can you see the threads in the crown in some of these pics?

Love them. But I'm not 15 000 GBP loving them.
Especially when I think the Tudor Black Bay get's you a lot of the way there at WAY less money.
Still. Hypothetical lottery win - I'm buying one. Not a doubt in my mind.

I like it alot....
Re: wowzer 15,000 GBP rolex remake for the 60th anniversary
I'm still trying to decide how I feel about it. On the one hand, I'm sure it's really well made and I personally think it looks really nice. On the other, while it's no doubt been sanctioned by Rolex, it's not a "real" Rolex, and the price is stratospheric for what it is.
It doesn't really matter to me, since there's no way I could afford it.

Re: wowzer 15,000 GBP rolex remake for the 60th anniversary
It is a definitely a nice looking watch, but also the most expensive ref. 6538 homage I've ever seen. I don't think I like the lack of a lume pip on the bezel. The red triangle seems almost naked without it. I wonder why he left that detail out?
Out of curiosity, would Rolex cover something like this under their warranty? I read quickly through the linked article and I could find nothing that said the creators of this watch were "officially sanctioned" or "endorsed by" Rolex or anything that would lead me to believe these watches were factory covered.
Thinking back to Terrie's recent MM300 experience, I wonder if a RSC would even work on this watch with such a modified case and crown.

What makes you think that Rolex sanctioned this watch? I'm not being argumentative - I always assumed these guys buy watches at retail (probably out the back door of some AD), mod them, and then offer it for sale.JBZ wrote:I'm still trying to decide how I feel about it. Actually, I probably spoke too soon, but Stahl is pretty well known in the vintage Rolex circuit and he's offering a Rolex branded watch for sale as more than a private, one off transaction or a modification post purchase (like a dlc job). There's a press release and everything.JP Chestnut wrote:What makes you think that Rolex sanctioned this watch? I guess I find it hard to believe he was able to do all this without at least implied approval from Rolex or an agreement to look the other way. Of course, stranger things have happened.
