The Seiko Problem...

Post by Expat » Sun Sep 08, 2013 4:02 pm

I think if I was really being honest I might have to admit that Seikos and Gs are my favorite watches. Certainly I've worn Gs and 6309s, and even the quartz version of the 6309, (forget the number) more than any other watches I've owned.

Every time I see a Marine Master, a 6309 or a 6105 I want it. I love the history of the Rolexes and the Tudors, but on the wrist I always go for my G or, when I have one, a 6309 or the like.

I always told myself this was because I couldn't get the NSD, the Sub, or the Dopple, the Ingy, or the Pam...but now I've had them all and I'm still thinking I want another beat up Seiko.

I may finally do it. I'll just have to spend my money on Drew straps and knives, maybe a new bike.
"30ish years of martial arts and I've actually had the honor of training lots of LEO, spec ops and even SEAL team 6 on base, fitness training, not martial arts, but still the coolest thing I've done.

Full on egg head corporate job and I fly quite a bit so I'm really looking forward to adding to my collection of TSA friendly self defense tools. I have amcouple tactical pens, but I want to up the game and get into some custom stuff. Been watch obsessed for a while but this seems more fun.

Thanks for letting me play! "

They're great for what they are. Basic, Japenese dive watches. Nothing more. I Keep coming back to them as well.

Hard to resist as there are so many great choices. I've enjoyed every one I've had.

I've recently re-ignited my interest in the Shogun since seeing Bedlam's recent diving photos, though
the MM300 is probably my next purchase.

It's no secret that I'm a Seiko fan too. I've owned several models, but am down to two right now. I think they can't be beat in value for the dollar.

I always seem to have one in my tiny collection. It is nice to have something inexpensive that is nicer than a G Shock. I am very happy with the Stargate I just got. I predict it will stick around for a long time.

Define basic. Seiko has one of the most complete product ranges of any watch maker at every price point. They make a lot more than dive watches, too. Compare to Omega, JLC, etc. Is Grand Seiko and Spring Drive excluded from this overview?

I'm talking about the ones mentioned in the original post.

It looks like a SKX007 with an aftermarket dial.

It is nice. Light resistance, very smooth.

I bought this at Bluedial.com. Search for a coupon code. I found one for 10% off.

Princeton has always had competitive prices on US models. Higuchi and Seiya are the go-to guys for Japanese Domestic Market models.
