Brand new arrival... my Seiko UFO 6138-0011.

Post by BramleyGreg » Sat Apr 10, 2010 10:46 am

Hey up everyone... hope we're all well this weekend?!!

Just thought I would shove up a few pics of my UFO which finally arrived on Friday.

On my first ever post on here I shoved up a couple of photographs of her in my collection, but they were pics by the vendor as it was in transit and on it's way.

I had one of these only three weeks ago... but passed it on to fund the purchase another watch. Now.. most of the time, I can do this without feeling too much sadness, but as soon as she had gone... I felt like my life had a big empty space where the UFO had been... a bit like Elliott on the movie ET!!

So, without further ado and fuss, I got on the web and sourced another. I paid just £9 / $13 more for this (plus postage) than what I got for my old one... but to be honest, it's arrived and the watch is in absolutely superb condition!

There's the odd slight mark, but this baby is from the 1970's and is knocking on a bit, but heck, it's in absolutely gorgeous condition... and it feels good to have one back!

Sometimes in life.. you never get back what you had.. but this one's even better than my foolishly released edition.. and didn't break the bank!

It makes me happy then to announce my first incomer since joining this superb forum...

My Seiko 6138-0011...

THE UFO!!

Great vintage piece. Seiko had some big watches back in the day.

Really cool case. Looks like a great pickup, glad you were able to find a replacement and upgrade a bit also.

Thanks ladies and gents for the kind responses (I will keep putting that as I don't know who all the boys and girls are yet... ), yes, it's in great condition... I truly love it!

Andy... again, yes mate, they are taken with my mobile phone cam... I am not the best of photographers, but I've found a medium that helps me 'get away with it' so to speak.

It's a Nokia 6303, a newer model of the steel and black classic 6300 that did the rounds over here a couple of years ago. It's not even got a really high res cam neither, (3.5?), but when you depress the button it zooms in slowly and close up then takes the pics when you take off your finger.

The pictures will do for me, I have a decent cam but with a zillion and one settings, and being the king of all technophobes (never used to be.. AGE!!) I just can't get it all right. :crybaby:

So mobile phone it is!!!

Thanks for the comments guys, most appreciated.

I am looking at a few watches now go by on the bay, and am hoping to pull the trigger soon on a couple.

I thought buying the Submariner had scratched my buying itch.. but I was wrong. :naughty:

The illness is still here.

Luckily!! :excited: :excited: (Obviously... no regrets here. I am incurable, and on the prowl for watches. Not a word to the wife though... :shh: :shh: )

Cheers mate... and do you know what's amusing?

I didn't really have myself down as a vintage watch man... it's just dawned upon me that I am after sourcing stuff from the 1970's (style-wise) more than anything!!

The stuff I am watching at the moment are all retro. But I totally love NEW watches too... but seem to be left with none! The only modern pieces I own really are the Speedie and the Sub.. and they have the design that they have had since year dot, give or take an ajustment here and there!

I can be soooo stoopid at times.. not to realise this!!

I have some old and new also. But I now go for the older model's.Now for the Speedie it's case design is the same as the vintage one's only thing differnt is one's a wind up the other's a auto-matic it's such a good design why change it.Just like Doxa on there diver's the case is almost like the vintage one's.The Speedie is on my want list one of these day's I will get one.

MMMMM. Very nice 6138 Greg. My favorite of all the seiko chrono's. I had one and sadly sold it. Mine was a franken that I found on the bay for $30. Didn't matter to me though. I'll get another someday. Enjoy yours
