JLC Deep Sea on Omega Style Rubber Strap

Post by RALAustin » Sat Mar 16, 2013 2:13 pm

I have been trying to find a good casual strap for my JLC Deep Sea American dial to avoid turning it into yet another black nato strap watch. It looks great on a black croc, but I just have no occasion to wear a dressed up watch. It looks good on the OEM leather and a vintage tropic, but for whatever reason it was not working for me. I have been craving a grab and go watch on deployant and happened across the Ebay listing for a generic Omega style rubber and deployant buckle. The rubber strap had black stitching which I thought would look good with the JLC so I took the plunge, and I like the combo a lot. I have had this type of strap combo several times on my Omegas and liked the ease of the deployant, and other than the deployant being a little thicker than the Omega one, I am hard-pressed to tell too much of a difference between the $500 Omega combo and this $75 combo. It needs to break in a little, but so far so good.

That doesn't suck.

I still prefer the oft maligned OEM "tropic-style" leather strap, but this aint half bad.

Regards,
Adam

PS - I really, really miss my DSA American (best dial choice, IMO).

I don't love it. It looks kind of cheap for such a fantastic watch. In fairness I think the OEM Omega strap looks cheap as well.

I like the alcantara strap the Navy Seals comes with...

Maybe even a tan canvas...

The strap is one onewatchrepublic on Ebay. The nato is still my favorite on this watch, but I have a black nato on the 1665, Sub No Date, JLC Navy Seals Auto and Kobold Soarway Diver so trying to diversify a bit (hard because the nato just works on almost everything). I have a Sinn UX on rubber with the small deployant coming in and I am hoping that helps satisfy my grab and go needs, but I do like this option and could easily switch with an Omega leather or croc to mix it up if desired.

I've yet to see any rubber straps better than OEM Omega and Sinn except for the JLC articulated rubber masterpiece. Which is like ten times more expensive than the others.

IWC makes my favorite rubber strap. Though integrated system sucks, I love the strap on the Aquatimer.

Can't beat that Rob ! :) Looks like a perfect fit for the watch, and the wrist
with this. It's nice, and sporty, but classy too. Nice find ! Keep enjoying Rob !
