Post by polaco23 » Sat Dec 05, 2009 10:30 pm

Im planning on removing hands from my 6497 PARNIS, in order to flip the case 180 to have a lefty. any way to do this using household tools? i know how to take the movement out, and the dial ( i think) but the hands are stopping my progress.

Hey Dom. You could try using two jewelers screwdrivers. Protect the dial with a plastic insert and/or scotch tape the ends of the screwdrivers.

Try to slide them under the minute hand from opposing sides and apply upward pressure. They should all pop off at once.

People have done it this way, but I don't recommend it unless you don't care about damaging/bending the hands and possibly scarring the dial.

Let us know how it turns out

If your not worried about the dial you can even use your finger nails,
or just raise up the dial off the movenet and it might just raise the hands off too

But a hands remover can be had for as little as $8us

I use a couple of hands setter tools I bought from Noah's site which have worked well. Should shoot a pic of them, they are pretty cool tools to have.
