New Steinhart models....

Post by hoppyjr » Fri Jan 18, 2013 2:53 pm

Just saw these on O.T.

The blue one reminds me of the cool Tudor's that live with some of you guys. I like both. Apparently available through the dealer "Aramar" exclusively.

Blue one is "Arctic Ocean" and black one is "Pacific Ocean".

I like both. Likely under $500 - edit: looks like the Arctic Ocean is $385 USD pre-order, not bad!!! http://www.aramar.nl/

Too bad it's after my pledge to stop the madness this year :(

I like the blue one. Something in my price range!
No thanks, I'm trying to cut down

Just placed an order for the blue one. Been wanting a non black-faced diver that's reasonably priced.

We'll see how it goes.

Just posted by Lex on Oceanictime FB page:

UPDATE Please note that at this stage the proposed design below for the Arctic Ocean has not been given the go ahead by Steinhart watches. At this stage it is only a proposal. There is no guarantee that it will ever come to fruition either.
My apologies to any OceanictTime readers, who may have unwittingly placed an order - this information has only just been brought to my attention by a reliable source connected to Steihart watches. I would suggest contacting Aramar for clarification.

The blue one without the cyclops would be a winner :)

Well that sucks.
I had an email discussion a while back with the Aramark guy (about black OVM) and he was pretty good with the communication. Might be worth reaching out to him and maybe he has more info....

The Arctic Ocean would be a 'must have' for me. Thank goodness it's not available. (broke)

Both of these are nice. Would be cool if they did make that
Arctic Ocean though. Steinhart always seems to do such a
terrific job with their watches, you know that one would turn
out great. Thanks for the news, and pics Hoppy !

I've sworn off buying, but I may have to make an exception for the blue dial :)

If you guys want to, PM me if you'd seriously be interested in the Arctic Ocean model - and if you'd prefer cyclops or no cyclops. Since I've had an internet discussion with the Aramar guy, I'll take point and let him know how many of us here at DWC would jump on this. Maybe we can persuade him to make it happen. I don't think we can do much better that the $400-ish price point (depending on Euro, with shipping) but I'd be in if they could make these.

Let me know via PM -

Hoppy

As far as I know, the issue is not him... It's Steinhart not approving it, as they would be the ones making the watch.

If you can get ahold of him id like to know what the deal is.

Odd, it seems like a good fit for where they've been going ...

According to Maurice Ruttan of Aramar, steinhart confirmed in writing to him on Friday that 100 of the Arctic Ocean will be made. He went on to say he intends to remit payment for all 100 this week to Steinhart. Might be a nice limited edition piece, I know steinhart quality is quite good.

It's good for the price when it's good. But they've certainly had their share of variability (one of the reasons I bought mine used).

BTW, I'm glad they are making this, I think they'll sell out quickly :) I'm glad we got some folks here at DWC interested, hopefully that'll lead to some "rental copies" with lots of DWC DNA :headbang:

if steinhart is making the watch, then i'd hazard a guess that it's only a matter of time before steinhart sells a similar tudor look-a-like on their own.

Glad to know it's a go, after all. I'm still mildly unconvinced that I truly want this watch, so it might not last long in my box.
