OT: Anyone's wife a budding WIS?

Post by logan2z » Sun Jan 13, 2013 4:26 pm

My watch obsession has begun rubbing off on my wife. I bought her a Laco Vintage with silver dial for Christmas and she's got the bug. Now she's itching for a JLC Master Control and an IWC Portofino (assuming I can dig up an old 34mm model). I think my watch budget is about to be divided in two :crybaby:

Anyone else have a wife that shares their passion for watches? If so, what does her collection consist of?

Mrs Rockmastermike did pick out her Seamaster and has been hinting at another watch to alternate with so we'll see where it goes....

Well, I got Michelle away from wearing kids watches ... but budding WIS? Not even close.

Andrew, my wife is now totally on board and WISsy. Whenever she gets her weekly magazines etc she first checks to see what watches the stars and celebrities are wearing and then tells me... Recognizing the wisdom of "Happy Wife, Happy Life" I have however also made sure that she gets some regular horological love so that I can pursue my grails...

Cheers.

My wife dives with her 37.5mm Planet Ocean Chrono, and also has a Rolex Oyster Perp and a Nomos Club handwound. Wait, that's a better collection than mine! She takes some mean watch photos too:

Just this past week, my wife showed me two pictures of things she's been eyeballing lately

1) vintage Rolex (not a sports model or anything, so not too expensive)

2) a pair of Red Wings (thanks a lot to the L&L forum here and my recent purchases)

:(

Fifth wedding anniversary is coming up though, so I guess I can take some of this into consideration.

Bought a 1625 Thunderbird from Jacek on my last trip to the Ghan in 2011. When I showed her the watch it could have gone either way, but she loves it and wears it every day. She's eyed off a Daytona previously, I just have to get her onboard regard the release of more watch funds for necessity of increasing the collection.

Suddha/Jason, those pictures taken by your wife are amazing.

Just think of the line you could use "Honey, 5 years is typically a wooden piece. Now I know how much you wanted a new watch and support American made goods, so I got you the best of all worlds"

My ex was well on her way; two Tag 2000's, an Omega DeVille, a Michelle Watch, and a couple others. Actually, that was one of the good things about the marriage :)

My wife has a couple of Tags and an Omega SMP midsize. She wears the Omega every day. The Tags are in a drawer somewhere...

My partner just has the Chanel watch she's had since she worked for them. No desire for anything else, luckily, as I don't think we could manage it alongside her handbag and shoe collections.
(All Chanel, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, etc. In other words, pretty much as financially debilitating as a watch fetish) :raised:

Mine would be happy if I never said the word ''Watch'' again!

Wifey has 5 watches that she never wears, which I purchased. Maybe I tried to fuel her desire so
I could justify mine, but that didn't work!

Her collection, 3 omega's , Cartier and something else.

All I gathered from this is:

1. Some of you fools waste watch money on your wives or allow them a view into our club house.

2. Matt is gonna lay the wood to his wife soon.

3. Patt can't please his wife.
