Illogical as it seems during a recent period that I was a one watch person for other reasons, points one and two were certainly realized as well.

To me, the challenge has been all about slowing down to enjoy what I have instead of automatically
thinking about that next purchase....

I knew I wouldn't have the willpower for the one watch challenge,although I possibly could have done it with my U1. I actually have to force myself to take that one off.
Glad you are finding it easier than you expected Zack. Anyone given up yet?

I know the feeling Zack. I tend to get something new in and then wear it fairly frequently to the detriment of others in the collection and then sell it or in limited circumstances keep it, but I rarely wear anything for more than two days in a row unless I am traveling. When I go on vacation and take maybe two or at most three watches, I definitely come back with a greater appreciation for those watches, especially if they have been put through their paces in water, etc...

There are two basic watch related dilemmas I am struggling with right now. First, if push comes to shove, I really just prefer to wear a Rolex Sub or SD to work because of size, comfort and style (granted I include the SubC, 1680, 1665 and the Sub No Date in the Sub category so I am not without a rotation). Everything else I try to wear to work ends up losing out (ex. SMP ceramic, JLC Navy Seals on articulated rubber bracelet, UN Diver on bracelet and many more that have come and gone). Of late, I have fixated on the AP 15300/15400 or VC Overseas as something that I think can compete with the Subs for work, but just have not pulled the trigger and part of me thinks I should just give up and go with the Sub or get a newer polar ExpII since it is different enough from the Sub but still in the Sub size, comfort, style wheelhouse.

Second, in terms of general consolidation, I have a couple watches that I have a lot of money into that do not get a lot of wear for one reason or another, but they are extremely cool and rare, and I love wearing them on special occasions (think Polaris and Ploprof). I am really worried that if sell them I will regret it and either pine away for them or worse overspend to reacquire them down the road.

All of this has led to the current path of selling the IWC and Doxa 300t (both amazing, but not for work and lose out to others for play) and considering selling the Omega SMPc and a bunch of straps to go after the AP or perhaps the polar EXPII.

This is going to sound very sad, but I'm the same way about clothing and shoes (I know, I know). There are some items that I own but rarely wear (my Gucci loafers and Hawaiian shirts come to mind). Even though I rarely wear them, I worry that if I toss them I'll regret it at some point down the road.

So what have we learned so far?

1. Rolex appears to be generally is the watch of choice; sub, sub c or sd
2. Wruw threads are getting more and more boring.
3. The one watch guys are flipping to satisfy the urge
4. There are quite a few nooners and "clandestine" rendevous with the quickie watch exchange
5. When this is over, they will explode, so watch out for your watches and body parts.
6. It is a WIS job to conquer as much $&)(, oops, I mean watches a possible.
7. You have to sow your "watch oats" before you can attempt this
8. The leisure and luxury forum is more popular with leather goods discussions and buying "substitute" edc items.

So guys, keep going it is actually fun to watch.

Great post, and amazed at your discipline too Like Adam, I almost regret not participating

Really is neat to hear about all of this Zack. That is some kind of watch
to enjoy for a month. After the month is up I'm thinking you will
appreciate this one even more, but also will appreciate what you haven't
worn in a while too. So it's a win win !

I did not participate in this challenge, but I tend to think that we in general have a problem with watches we get on an impulse. If you buy a watch that you truly like and appreciate for whatever the reason you will not have a hard time wearing it daily if it comes to that. I just don’t or can’t comprehend how could someone buy the same watch 4 times over and still thinks it’s a keeper.

I tend to agree with you on point 1 & 2 just be careful at the end of the month if you make it there.
