My 3 Divers
My 3 Divers
Hey guys,
Just thought I'd post a group shot of my current divers. I don't dive myself but I've always loved this style of watch and I find myself always having 2 or more in my collection at any one time.
It all started with Tag Heuer Formula 1 back in 1990. It was quartz and it had an car connection but the specs were all diver: 200m resistance, rotating bezel, rubber strap. And from then on, I had gone through a ton of divers from tag to omega to breitling and I even had a Rolex blue 16613 at one point.
Now, I'm favoring the more "tool" oriented diver styles. Dressy divers are nice, beautiful in fact but I just cant reconcile the dressy design with the original intended purpose of the diver's watch. Closest thing I have to a dress diver is my Yachtmaster - hardly a diver with like 100m resistance.
Anyway, here are my divers:
Oldest one is the Ball Engineer Master II Diver TMT Gillaume Nery edition limited to 2006 pieces. First watch of its kind with an analog temperature gauge. Favorite feature is the dial design. Lots going on but they still managed to make it look cool.
Next is my "strapper." Halios Laguna. Awesome watch. Maybe the only watch I've ever owned that has a waitlist of buyers hoping I'll flip it. Lol! Big, solid and classy. I wear this to WIS-GTGs and even Panerai guys ask if they could try it on.
Look ma, no gap! Lol
And my newest catch. One I've been scouring the net for years for - Marathon SAR. Courtesy of justsellbrgs. It's about 8 seconds slow per day. Not bad. My YM is 10 seconds fast (obviously needs service). Very comfortable. Best designed bracelet in any price bracket. Love the "Ready for duty" image.
Definitely dig this lineup. Don't wana say I'm keeping these forever since history has shown me as a bit of a flipper.haha! But I will say that these 3 by far, have the most character and mojo compared to all the other divers I've ever had in any price range. In fact, they make Rolex seem vanilla in comparison. Lol
Anyway thanks for looking!

Excellent stuff. I have a Laguna too and have loved it. You have to see it in person to appreciate just how solid the thing is.

Thanks! Laguna is definitely one of a kind and I love how well it goes with a lot of different straps.bedlam wrote:Excellent stuff. I have a Laguna too and have loved it. You have to see it in person to appreciate just how solid the thing is.

different cases, differnet features, different sizes - you have covered all the bases and with good looking watch on top of it.

Dig your watches. I have a Halios Puck and Halios makes a great watch for the money. Love the Marathon and you are right... one of the single best bracelets out there. Very cool looking center links on those bracelets.

Three solid choices, for sure. I have three Balls (ahem) and they are good quality. Enjoy 'em!

Re: My 3 Divers
Funny thing is the SAR is 41mm, Ball 42mm and the Halios is 43mm. Not that far apart but looking at the designs, they really couldn't be further apart. Does that make sense? Lot of Laguna fans, I see. They had a Puck on display as well but I didn't get to try it on. 47mm is huge though. My personal max is 43mm.

I love Ball. They make such cool watches with the tritium, shock proof, anti-magnetic, wr and thermometer of all things!kfalk wrote:Three solid choices, for sure. I have three Balls (eh, hem) and they are good quality. Enjoy 'em!
