Anyone ever Purchased from Chrono24?
I was just curious, had anyone ever purchased a watch from Chrono24? Some interesting pieces, mostly European countries. Looks and seems too complicated, but wanted to check in with the experienced buyers/sellers here.
Re: Anyone ever Purchased from Chrono24?
I've never purchased from the site, but I had some issues with a "trusted seller" out of Atlanta that's as sleazy as they come (long story, but they were selling a watch of mine as a broker). It seems as if a lot of dealers use the site as well.

I believe Rob (Streetracer) ordered his UTS from one of the German dealers. He eventually got what he ordered but there was a problem with the shipping method.

Re: Anyone ever Purchased from Chrono24?
Yup - I bought it from an independent seller in Germany. Everything turned out fine, but the seller didn't use the shipping method he said he would. As with anything, make sure to buy the seller. If you use paypal, the seller has the burden of proof, so unless they have tracking showing delivery confirmation, they'll lose an unreceived item case. I imagine there are just as many dirty sellers on WUS as there are on chrono24..just a matter of sorting out a good one.CGSshorty wrote:I believe Rob (Streetracer) ordered his UTS from one of the German dealers. One thing to note about international sales - language barriers and time zone difference can be a pain..so keep that in mind.

Value Added Tax. It is a tax on just about everything sold anywhere in the Euro zone. Maybe one of our European members can explain it better.

VAT is a but like your sales tax, almost anything you buy here has VAT included in the price. If I sell a watch to someone within the EU I must include the VAT, but there is no import taxes for that person in their country. It is basically a tax only in the EU.
If I sell a watch outside the EU I must sell without the VAT, but that watch is subject to import taxes and duties when it arrives. So anything sold to the States will not have VAT but you will have import taxes.
Regards
Graeme

Re: Anyone ever Purchased from Chrono24?
If the value is over £20 for used and £40 for new goods, they want their pound of flesh and I think VAT is at 21% now. On top of that,Parcelforce then have the nerve to put a £14 handling charge on because they collect the charge on behalf of Customs.jimyritz wrote:If you pay VAT, sometime you can get it back, right? This is why UK and European buyers will always ask you to put a low declared value.

You can find some good stuff there, but the EU sellers want top dollar.....sometimes more than top dollar.

If you are buying second hand from a person in Europe it will more expensive let me explain.
A guy lives in Ireland goes into local AD and buys a watch for €615
That watch is actually 500 + 23% Vat = 615
So the watch costs him €615 if he sells it second hand he maybe drops the price to €550 for example.
At the same time a guy in the States goes online to a shop in Europe and buys same watch, he is sold the watch at €500 because he is outside the EU
So the guy in the States can buy the same watch new, cheaper than buying the same watch second hand from the guy in Europe.
Assuming both charge the same for shipping. Also both watches are liable for import taxes into the States.
Regards
Graeme

Re: Anyone ever Purchased from Chrono24?
I've made two purchases through Chrono24. Both were through two different German dealers. The first purchase was my UTS 3000m, the second purchase was a Sinn 757. Both transactions went very smoothly without any problems. No customs problems or delays coming into the USA either.
