Mk II Kingston - Poll

Post by FlyPenFly » Tue Aug 07, 2012 7:47 pm

Sorta kinda falling in love with this watch.

I kind of want one to beat the shit out of, artificially fade the bezel, install a bubble crystal and enjoy.

But will I really enjoy it long term or does it just whet the appetite for something better.

Nice looking watch with plenty of appeal, however the prices suck imo

I am in the camp of thinking about buying each one I see posted and knowing that I would probably wear it a lot.

Yeah, even with prices coming down it still seems a bit high. I would feel like a cheater wearing it too.

I think it would be fine in a Rolex sports watch collection. Not cheating that way. I might go with the Nassau just to save some bucks and be spared of the chase.

Sunster in WUS/TZ had a recent sotc where it fit right in.

The Ravens they made seemed extremely hokey to me because of the size and somewhat sketchy quality history.

Mk II though is known for being really anal about quality so I don't know.

I'm still not convinced looking at it will bring me joy or just remind me I couldn't buy a $300,000 or more watch.

Then again, will Mk II always be a wannabe brand or are they a legit company moreso in the vein of Bremont, Stowa, and Glycine.

I like it a lot too and would buy one but not at the current prices though. They are very tempting though :)

Until Bill starts making some original designs I put him no where near the 3 mentioned above. Having high quality just means I can buy with confidence knowing that I'm getting what I paid for.

To be honest, I should probably just save up for one of these, should take another 2-3 months...

Wait for the Bremont, that will definitely stick around.

Not the same thing, but if I wanted a new gilt Sub-type thing, I'd save up and wait for a Black Bay.

I really like the Kingston and Bill's QC is impeccable. I admit I am a MKII fanboy.

I think the Bremont is too different of a watch to do an either or comparison. The Bremont or the Tudor will set you back a lot more than the Kingston and you can't go wrong with either IMO, but who are you kidding, neither of the three will not be keepers anyway.

Mk II Kingston - Poll

Kingston did nothing for me in person. It photographs beautifully though.

I had a Seafighter and really liked it...I think the Kingston will be interesting for a few months and then you will flip it....I'd rather have an MB2 even if it is different..

I don't think it would have staying power. I say keep saving and get something different....Bremont, Black Bay, etc.

I’m with Chris here as I think that the MKII will be moved fairly quick.

I think that it's a great watch and one that stands on its own.

Until you can pony up for the real thing, that is (even then, this one you can wear in anger and not worry about it -- just like the original was mean to be worn).

Regards,
Adam

PS - And yes, you'll wind up flipping it down the road.
