My wife pays attention...

Post by demer03 » Mon May 07, 2012 3:14 am

More than I thought. My daughters set up our iPads on a game where you draw pictures and the other person has to guess what it is...send them back and forth building a streak. My wife has to draw "iPad"' and this is what I get;

Pretty fun game, we have been known to give it a go with the kids every now and then.

Most mornings when I get up, after glancing at email & texts to see if there's anything urgent, I'll look at DWC on my phone quickly.

The wife came out of the bathroom this morning, saw me, and says: "you texting your little dive watch friends?"

...if someone in the house wants to tell me what's going on with American Idol...or another lame show, I offer an update about ezcheese tapering off his meds, craniotes' latest purchasing pursuit, or demer's issue's with customs....

they look at me like i'm nuts...

Let me voice a resounding :1: to all the above. This forum has been the subject of many an argument, usually having to do with my online time (which is fairly ironic given that she's on the computer AND watching housewives of some random city, all at the same time - media multi-tasking at its finest :raised: ), despite the fact that I am rarely on the forum at night anymore just for this reason! And, while we're on the topic, I got told last night that I have no business selling my watches to help fund an even more expensive watch (the Sub-C I am now after) and that if I wanted to be a douchebag I could wear a Rolex like the rest of them - or something to that affect. I was actually in the process of leaving the room as her comments spewed forth so I was out of ear-shot and cannot recall verbatim her slurs and curses. As if I haven't heard it all before! ....... :banghead:

Sigh. My wife's radar goes off when I mention Rolex too...brand stigma is a pita...

I've already convinced my wife of my viewpoint on Rolex and how it's different from the general brand stigma.

I used a lot of purse and shoe analogies - it helps, fellas.

My wife has nothing but contempt for expensive purses and shoes...only nice shoes she'll wear are ones I'll buy and they need to be vintage so she can't check MSRP's...but she is ok with nice jewelry because they're a heirloom and she's not so nuts as to look up gold or silver prices...let's just say she's low maintenance.

My wife just says..."why don't you look at me like you look at your watches?"

But she has mellowed on my forum time after seeing that I not only buy, I can actually sell, too.

My wife is pretty understanding and has some favourites amongst my watches. Of course I did buy her a really nice watch once so I am ok.
cheers,

+3 - I'm that guy that never has stepped foot on Facebook. No thanks - I could fucking care less what one of my slutty high school friends is cooking her baby daddy for dinner or that a guy I used to play baseball with in college has dropped everything to take a massive shit.... Watch forums/car forums, that's it.

This^...My wife loves to give me a hard time about, "my watch friends" (DWC)...however, she has been very understanding of my purchases...then again a new Louis Vuitton every now and then doesn't hurt....

I'm lucky, my wife it pretty cool with it. I told her about the recent beat down by DWC of BHJ Jewelers in support of Matt and she got a kick out of it. She like hearing about some the crazy crap that goes on around here.

I'm usually here, FB and watching the Rays game or something. As long as I have the Rays game going, she is fine as she loves to watch anything sports related.

She's also not super techie or interested in spending time online. I'm happy if she answers her damn cell phone as that's a 50/50 proposition.
