F2F Deal in Paris
F2F Deal in Paris
3 weeks ago, a watch friend of mine offered me an very rare watch.
His name is Laurent, he lives in Paris and he's a crazy about Vinatge Watches, his collection ist absolutly awesome.
I have personally met Laurent in 2010, he came to Munich to go with me to watch fair, there is no fair in Paris.
Having never been in Paris I decided to personally pick up the watch.
There were three reasons for the trip
- a romantic weekend with my girl in Paris.
- a reunion with Laurent
- and (of course) the watch
Start Friday 10:45 AM in Munich
Before take off a fast cigarette in the Camel Lounge
A cold and windy day in Munich
Nice flight weather - no turbulences
With me on board - Zenith Sub
1 Hour 10 Minutes later - on time arrival in Paris
Our hotel room with a nice view over the city
A little sightseeing - Invalidendome
Sunny weather - 20 degrees, not bad for March
First floor
Second floor
The steps ends at the 2 floor, the only way to the top is in the Elevator - 2 hour waiting time
Very expensive, 26 Euro/30 $ for an piece of cake.
House boat at the Seine
The "Princess Diana tunnel"
Arc de Triomphe
A big classic car
A small classic car but oils like an big
Cigarette break,
We walked for many hours through Paris
Strong stuff - Gitanes (unfiltered), the same blue as the Zenith
Louvre
The happy hour price for a small (0,4l) Carlsberg makes me not happy
Saturday, the feets are burning, so we take the Metro
Loud and full
A shop for Vintage Watches
Very expensive like everything in Paris
Autavia on Nato
Montreal for 3900
Cool shops in the narrow streets, for vintage car models, literature for old cars.
Here is a store for old aircraft and ship models
Unfortunately, there are very many shoe shops in Paris.
I spent a few hours inside them, women ........
First meeting point with Laurent, Bar Bank a nice (an of course) expensive place.
Later we had a dinner in a typical french restaurant.
To forget the prices I needed a big Bavarian beer.
The UG "Space Compax".....
and the GMT Autavia......
are Laurents watches.
Our meeting ended at 2 Clock in the morning, it was a nice and funny evening.

Foto: Laurent
Sunday sightseeing again - Sacre Coeur.
5.05 PM return flight to Munich
A dangerous situation with the Concorde.
6:20 PM- back in Munich.
This city is a dream,
compared with Paris very cheap.
Paris: 3 beers = 30 Euro
Munich: 10 beers = 30 Euro.
Ok, and here is the watch
Skipper Referenz 7764
Ultra rare only built at 1970
Good condition, nice patina.
41 mm without crown
Handwinding
The Skippers were housed in cases "borrowed" from the Autavias (Ref 7763, 73463, 11630 or 11063).
The first Skipper is called "Skipperera" the case is borrowed from an Carrera
The Watch and the photo are from Laurent.
The Ref. 7764 is the firstbSkipper in an Autavia case.
I like the big and asymetric Sub Dial.
French colors - Tricolore.
Foto: Laurent
The pics at the Onthedash gallerie are from Laurent.
I am glad to have a clock that is shown in the Onthedash gallery.
More pictures from the Skipper
http://www.onthedash.com/Guide/_Chronog ... .Ref_7764/
Die Ref. 7764 exists in 2 versions, early have a small/white......
later versions a bigger/red second hand
The Skipper is definitely a keeper in my collection.
Conclusion: There are cheaper places to drink than Paris
Cheers!

Nice trip report, awesome vintage Heuer, and great shots from my absolute favorite city on the planet (even if the prices are outrageous).

I really need to get out more.... Thanks for sharing your perspective on Paris, it's good to "see" other places. And Adam is right, that is the way to buy a watch!

You know how to buy a watch!
That Skipper.... holy shit. Congratulations on an amazing pick up! I'd love to see a pic of your entire collection one of these days.
I've seen plenty of pics of Laurent's collection. That man isn't fooling around.

Re: F2F Deal in Paris
Thanks for the tour. That is a smoking hot vintage piece, and that Zenith diver you have is fantastic too.
I promised my daughter that when she graduates highschool we will go to Paris. I guess I better save more than I was planning.

Hey Corto, great adventure and nice to see such nice places again even if only in pictures... great watch too. Laurent used to be very busy in the Militay Watch Resource Forum...
Re: F2F Deal in Paris
Awesome shots!
Re: F2F Deal in Paris
Hi watchfriends - thanks for the comments!
@River Rat: I didn't know that Laurent has owned a Spirotechnique.
Nice Diver, can you post a pic?
@Dave: Right, Laurent is a professional collector, his knowledge about the Vintage Stuff is impressive.
At the moment he is in love with Universal Geneve.
And my collection is not so big - around 28 or so.
I have planed to reduce down to 18, this is the capacity of my box.
But I'm not sure which watches can go and which are keepers.
