I sorta want a Longines Legend Diver
I sorta want a Longines Legend Diver
For some reason, I can't stop thinking of the no date version. I can't swing a JLC TTP, and this one hits a lot of the same notes for me. Sweet compressor case, vintagey goodness, and the price is right. I think this would be a killer watch on a tropic strap. I know some of you have owned these. Interested in any thoughts.

Re: I sorta want a Longines Legend Diver
I don't know if it would have staying power in your collection ("hmmm, let's see, do I wear the FF Sport, 372, 243, SD or... yes, that's it, the LLD!"), but I've yet to hear anyone say a single disparaging thing about it (at least in no-date guise).
I say go for it; the price is right, and if you find that you're not bonding you can flip it in a heartbeat.
Regards,
Adam

I agree w/Adam on this....Didn't like the long lug to lug. The OEM strap is garbage....
The pic has a GSD on it...
I did like it when I had it...

Re: I sorta want a Longines Legend Diver
I had one for a while (purchase from ezcheese no less circa 2009), and I really liked it. I wore it mainly on a vintage tropic strap, but would have worn it on a black nato if I had a 22mm one at the time. The main issues I had with it was the fairly long lug to lug length and the fact that the lug holes were so far away from the case that there was a big gap with a lot of straps. Still, a great watch and I love the case back.

Re: I sorta want a Longines Legend Diver
I have always liked the look of the LLD. After trying one on, I didn't care for it. I have a 7.5 wrist and the lug to lug length was outside my wrist. This doesn't seem to be a problem for some though.
Should be an easy flip, if it doesn't work for you.

I really like em but can't quite seem to pull the trigger, either I've no funds when ones available or I buy something else when one isn't!
Can't deny it's a good looking unit though!

I really liked mine also, but could not deal with the lug to lug. Liked the looks, didn't like the strap. has a big ass box.

I wonder if the AT Vintage is the same lug to lug

Re: I sorta want a Longines Legend Diver
Always liked the look but have yet to try one. What's the lug to lug on these? Sounds like that's the resounding complaint with the watch. They sure look good.
Re: I sorta want a Longines Legend Diver
nice watch, for sure. love how it looks on the tropic strap. that leather that Drew has on it is the winner!
Nice to have a vintage looking watch but completely modern

I'm not a fan of buying a "consolation prize" watch. If you really want a Polaris, buying something else because it's pretty similar probably won't take away the desire for the real thing and won't be a keeper.
When I find something expensive I like, I don't look for something that's close but much cheaper. Either I can afford it and buy it, or I suck it up and do without.

Sure-but to me the Legend has enough appeal on its own that I don't consider it a Polaris stop gap at all. I get what you're saying though I'm the same way.

I loved it, but didn't keep it long because it felt too dressy at the time.RALAustin wrote:I had one for a while (purchase from ezcheese no less circa 2009), and I really liked it. I have a running log of watch specs from ones I have owned or want. Here is the entry for the LLD:
Longines Legend Diver 42mm x 13.55mm; 52 mm lug to lug / 22 mm lug width; case weight of 78 grams; 85.5 grams on Longines rubberized strap; 300m rating

Love the case and crystal on this. Not 100% sure about the hands.
Re: I sorta want a Longines Legend Diver
Great looking watch, but the lug to lug is a deal breaker for me.

Re: I sorta want a Longines Legend Diver
The lug length would put me off but seeing Drew's pics with it on nato's that fill the springbar to case gap has swung my view on it.
Not keen on it with two piece straps but a winner on nato.
Go for it.

Re: I sorta want a Longines Legend Diver
I own one and will never sell it. It's a great all around watch and looks great on any strap combo you can think of. It doesn't have much lume but it doesn't need to because it looks so great. Mine has kept great time and I've had no issues. I have some bigger watches but for me this is a pefect size. My only beef it the strap it came with could and should be a bit longer. I think I have a average wrist size and I'm using the second to last hole on the strap.
I will say the box it came in was giant.

I don't think it necessarily is, but it sounds like it would be for Rahul, and that's why I would suggest he not get one.
It's a pretty nice watch, but personally I hate the hands. The hour hands has an anemic lume area.

This watch is epic, yes I sold it and yes I will buy it back.
It may not be in the stratosphere in pricing but it punches above its weight. Looks great on leather rubber but on Omega mesh it's killer

I'm with Jamie the LLD punches above its weight and is a straight-up beauty. Not the biggest name nor the finest movement. Just a GOOD watch. What's not to love?

Beautiful watch and it sells well if you end up not bonding with it

Merde Alors! Et Vive Les Francais!

Re: I sorta want a Longines Legend Diver
Liked it in pictures but once I saw it in the metal I never gave it a second look. Do not want.
