Watch Box Project
Re: Watch Box Project
Very nice. Box design similar to what I did. I also created a jig to router out watch spacers in heavy density foam which I then covered with felt

What's the best source for the mid-density foam that's inside Pelican style cases? Ive got an old Pelican case minus part of the interior foam that id like to repurpose for watches.

I was going to do the interior dividers in timber with large cushions but the foam looks nice and soft.
Re: Watch Box Project
Material I used is called Gator Board (I think). 16 years since I used the material. Felt I used has a glue back. Worked fine on the paper face, but isn't working to well on the routered edges (can see it peeling away)Dam that's nice.

Your way will work fine. Look for glued back felt. Cut to size and peel off the backing paper and just lay down. Could also use the insides of the dividers (before any finishing is used) and just leave a 1/4" of the top edge wood showing for a contrasting look.
Took me a few weeks to make the jig for routing. Still have it. Didn't want to toss it. Still have two other boxes I made
Good luck on the box

Felt just adds some contrast, so it's not so woody looking and gives the box more of a 3 dimensional look to itJamie wrote:See I am a wood lover (said my wife ) ((never))
