Me likey the Steinhart patina lume watches!

Post by toxicavenger » Sun Feb 19, 2012 10:59 pm

Some reason or another I dig the lume dials that Steinhart are putting in their divers.

Couple pics I stole from the net.

Steinhart builds a great watch for the coin and the lume stuff has been sweet, last couple I've had just made me think of another brand and couldn't wear them even though they were done nicely! Did have a sterile dial flieger that I dug, steinhart even took out the automatic 2824 and put a hand wind eta movement in it with a diamond crown.... Sweet piece and should have kept it for the price, a new DWC member is rockin it!

That Explorer II knock-off is particularly well done.

I don't know why these guys are bothering to put their name on the dial when they can send 'em out the back door with "Rolex" printed instead. They'd put the Chinese out of business and own the market.

Steinharts rock. I had a couple a few years ago and they were really well built and relatively inexpensive. That GMT looks really good!

Agree, Adam. They could put Rolex on them and sell them like hot cakes... Or at least as well as Mark II's... :stir:

I really like this one.

This was a special edition, its not on Steinharts website, you can only buy it through a dutch website, its exclusive to them.

I like the white dial with the vintage lume markers, just really good looking.

they could put Rolex on the dial and sell them, but someone would notice how good the lume was and figure it out. :stir:

yes they are to much of a copy, but hell look at the prices MKii is pulling in with their versions.

and since these have the vintage lume on them the Rolex world would give it another 100% marker up because of that. imagine if I took one of dials out and baked it in the oven.......that would be another 10 fold in price for sure.

I bought and sold several but they were too "homage" for me. I did keep one as it is not one most recognize as having a real twin of it.

And yes, that chick in the tub is deffinately DTF after that little incident.

They're a fun distraction but eventually you'll sell it because it just reminds you what you didn't buy.

Then again, it's not like people don't flip Rolex's!

There's one advantage to the Steinhart and MkII over Rolex, they come in men's sizes.
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

You know, Of course they are Rolex Homages.

But not everyone has $5000 to spend on a Rolex. These are not replicas, the bracelets are really different, and they are not claiming to be anything original or special either. They are what they are. Alot of watch companies homage each other. If you dont like it, dont buy it.
But a good deal for around a 10th of the price. Is the quality the same....of course not, but still a good $500 watch.

not for me actually because I am one of the people who think that a rolex is too expensive and not something I could justify the price enough to own it.

like chef said it is a good buy for the price.

now if they were 41mm then all would be perfect.

Great movement in them as well for the price. Mine has the 2893-2 in it.

Stienhart is one of the smaller brands that i actually admire. They have a range of watches that r very well thought out and original, pity most people only dog them for their rolex homages. Most important they have an excellent price/value ratio. Have u seen how much their 2893 watches cost? Tick from me. :salute: :salute:

I didn't want to be the one to say it. Some day Rolex will make me a 42mm Sub with 22mm lugs like Bill Yao does.
