These are the ones that I wore. The digital was returned 'cause it burned through batteries. Ok, maybe I was so fascinated by the LED display that I ran the batteries down too fast. In any case I returned it. I still have the Accuquartz & wish that I still had them all, especially the Seiko!

Yeah, that Seiko is a style that keeps coming back! Doh!
The Seiko was bought in the US & the Accuquartz & Wittnauer were bought in Berlin in '73. I was on an extended TDY (2Yrs.) there to upgrade all of their air traffic control & surveillance RADAR equipment for the Air Force.
Cheers,

Heck, I did that last night. Except now, it's not "gadgets", it's "complications".

This tiny picture shows the USS Silversides SS-236 docked at Navy Pier in Chicago. As a twelve year old, I attempted to stow away on this boat because I wanted to join the Navy... right now! I did get below deck, unchallenged, but ws discovered within hours. I was given a hamburger, a tour and escorted off the boat. Docked behind the Silversides was the destroyer escort Daniel Joy. Even though I wanted submarines, I wanted into the Navy even more, so, I attemted to board the Joy. Sadly, I never touched foot on the deck as security caught me and threw me off. No hamburger and no tour of the DE.

I didn't own a watch at that time.

P.S. At seventeen, I attempted to enlist in the Navy, Air Force, and Army. I could not pass the physical. I didn't attempt enlistment in the Marines because I knew I wasn't tough enough.

We are talking about the Viet Nam war and while I was in the hospital in Texas, I bought a solid gold Bulova with a bracelet for $35.

Amazing.

Nice, a Northrop F-5! Don't see those a lot in the US. American made but not American used. Did you guys have A/B models or E/F models?

I decided to exercise my "military card" and revive this thread...mostly because I never posted to it.

I wore a number of watches, mostly forgettable; but, I did have a Seiko 6309 (destroyed while loading Mk82 500lb GP munitions on a trailer one day). I had a BX watch which I cannot remember the brand, but it looked a lot like a Benrus or some other US GOV issue piece. I also had a generic black Victorinox-like watch I actually bought in a German bakery or butcher shop, can't remember which. The German watch is somewhere, the others were lost to time.

Nice Caravelle diver
I was wondering about the 666 feet designation and then realized that Caravelle was made by Bulova, and Bulova used it on both the Accutron and the automatic version of this dive watch. Mine's from 1969.
Wearing this today, in fact:

I was lucky enough to find a NOS 6139 about years ago. These were arguably the first automatic chronos ever produced. Very cool watches.

Thank you for your service guys!

F-35's? That might be a long wait at this point ;)

F16 Falcons are a pilot's aircraft but not as direct as the old F5, 16s are/were all fly by wire.

Gentlemen, I thank all who served and I salute you. :salute:

This is possibly one of the single coolest threads I have ever read on any watch forum. Great job. A salute to DWC also.
