Tag Monaco- What Do You Think?

Post by dshap » Mon Apr 18, 2011 5:43 pm

What do you guys think about the blue Tag Monaco? I've liked this watch for years, but never did anything about it. I kinda hate Tag, but this watch is an exception, though it does have a module chrono, which I don't really like.

The blue is really cool and pretty common. The gray is also cool, though I probably couldn't find one even if I wanted it.

I love those, particularly the Gulf models.

I think they are bad ass. I really like the Gulf models also but the blue one you show is very solid.

David I am sure you did your research, but the older ones have acrylic crystals and the new ones are saphire. The new ones are a tad larger as well.

Right. 1mm larger, and it also has a different chrono module. Also a sapphire display back.

I always thought the older ones had plexi crystals. Or is acrylic the same?

Still dig them none the less.

Yes, McQueen is definition of cool.

I think plexi and acrylic are the same. I might be wrong though.

I was looking at that blue model at macy's this past weekend. I really like that watch and always get drawn to it when I'm in the store. No way in hell would I pay retail ($5100  ) but who the hell pays retail anyway?! Even with their 25% off, still pricey and plenty of other sellers out there for slightly cheaper. Blue or Gulf, they're both winners imo.

I read some were after the day was over and they stopped filming McQueen would take the Tag off and put his Rolex on.Don't know how true that is just some thing I read on the net.I have never really been a big fan there are so many great vintage watches out there for the price this Tag sells for.

Never notice McQueen a lefty.

I have always like that model. I get hung up when I start looking at anything other than a dive watch.

That is the reason I have not bought a speedy..... Yet. The Monaco is in the same boat.

No doubt it's an icon, but make sure you try it on before you buy. The square case was awkward and tall on my wrist. The sporty straps are way overpowered imo, even though they look perfect...

Group buy??

(I do 100% intend to own a black acrylic chrono at some point in time)
