Re: Shipping nightmare (UPS) and watch alert
Isn’t this technically theft by UPS even if it was unintentional? Can’t you take them to small claims court? That’s what I was going to post. I’d call the police and report a theft. Then UPS can either leave the driver out to dry or actually figure out what happened. Exactly my thought. This is a t...

We are discussing in my office and are struggling with some basic decisions.... I feel bad for lost lives BUT How the hell is a person convinced to pay $$$ to be BOLTED into a carbon fiber submersible with acrylic windows, handed a PS4 controller and told "Hope we make it down.".... and these peopl...

....The good news is water at that pressure crushes you so fast the nerve impulses don’t reach the brain so you never even know it happened. Humans are essentially bags of water and virtually non-compressible in water. The reason you wouldn't survive at extreme depths like these is it's not possibl...

Re: Titanic submersible missing
Looks like this disaster has transitioned into joke territory, so I wanted to point out that in terms of f#ck around and find out this one really went off the deep end. I guess I would be more sad if this was a group of academic explorers and not a bunch of billionaire tourists. My father was prett...

Re: Titanic submersible missing
I just read an article saying it had a lavatory similar to one in a private jet - but, given the other cheap off the shelf items on the boat I read about (camping lantern for light, video game controller to drive - ya, you read that right) I can only wonder what the toilet was. I think they have mu...

They're gonna have all kinds of issue facing them. Temperature and water being the most important. Im guessing that they had some kind of toilet on board - but, I'd be stunned it it had capacity for 5 adults. The super hard parts are, first they need to be located, then recovered, then they have to...

Will it hurt (did it hurt?) when they hit the bottom? Found an online calculator for terminal velocity and trusting that site it's somewhere between 12 and 20 feet per second.

Re: Fixing a Ding on a Case?
I'm not certain, but I think they weld a bit of material onto the case to fill the divot, then grind / polish it back to smooth. This is exactly how steel with heavy wear is repaired if replacement isn't possible or cost effective. Fill the area with welds and grind it to desired shape. I've had th...
